The desire of conservatives to disenfranchise as many voters as they possibly can continues to astound me. The overt hostility towards voting and, you know, democracy in our democratic republic is beyond depressing.

Not sure why it "astounds" you. It's been known for ages that the GOP lose when more people are able to vote. It makes perfect sense from the standpoint of the morally corrupt GOP.

Stack the Supreme Court.

Pass election reform to get rid of dark money and ban many voter suppression tactics. Don't make November 4th the only vote day, make it the day voting ENDS. Add PR and DC as two new states to add +4 Senate seats.

Let Republicans sue and let the newly stacked Supreme Court rule that it's constitutional.

Pass laws limiting / curtailing the spread of fake information. Remember how Fox was forced to admit that Fucker Tarlson shouldn't be believed by any rational person? FORCE these fuckers to air a disclaimer that these shows are FAKE NEWS after every commercial break.

If they don't, there's a huge crop of progressive Democratic candidates that are up and coming that can replace older, more centrist liberals. And if they do take the Senate/WH and don't functionally CTRL-C + CTRL-V HR1 that they passed in 2018 during the first year, or at least the first term, that will be a clear signal that it was just a bag of hot air and we can vote out the liars and vote in more folks that will actually vote for electoral/campaign finance reform.

Don't get me wrong, I think the US could do with a revolution (non-violent) and a serious revisiting of a lot of the core foundations of this country and the assumptions we make based off of them. Yep I've heard that too. But looking at those numbers Rasulis posted even if republicans won the in person vote by a 2:1 margin they'd still lose North Carolina given the democrat advantage in affiliated voters and NPA voters.

Yeah, personally I agree that the GOP in person voting won't be able to undo the blue surge ahead of the election. We should still act like Trump will win though and still vote like our lives depend on it.

But again, it's also important for the media to report this clearly. If they report that Trump won the in person vote they need to be VERY clear about how much if any of the early and mail in votes are included in that. Otherwise it's going to be a confusing mess of people not understanding which states are actually done counting votes.

It's also true in CT.

For federal seats, their nominee is almost always the Democratic nominee as well, but for local and state level seats they are often running their own candidates.

This is how legitimate 3rd parties build support in a FPTP system, and we should encourage this wherever possible.

Oh we totally need a revolution. I'm baffled why we'll go into the streets for racial issues (totally justified) but not go into the streets for wealth inequality and insane housing costs. I suppose the racial protests were ignited by a couple key events, I often wonder what sort of events would need to happen to get us out on the street for economic issues.

I just wish we'd fucking start playing ball instead of still "taking the high road" or whatever the way too old fucks in the democratic leadership think. We're not gonna win this by being nice to the other side.

(Bloomberg) -- President Donald Trump’s campaign has all but pulled its advertising out of Florida, as it stakes its relatively small bank account on the industrial northern states that carried him to victory in 2016.
