There are things he can do--in fact things they're actively working on right now--to interfere with and upend that process specifically. It's largely uncharted territory, so people dismissing these possibilities outright aren't on any surer footing than the rest of us. I think it's likely their efforts to a) sue and otherwise intimidate electors and SoS directly, b) convince enough Democratic electors to be bad faith electors, c) persuade Republican legislatures to appoint their own slates of electors will be unsuccessful, but their best bet, and likely the one they're banking on, is getting cases in front of Fed Soc funneled judges who are varying degrees of incompetent and grotesquely partisan and corrupt. If they can block certification here and there, get Democrats' ballots tossed a few other places, narrow the margins and delay, I'm sure they're hoping they can get a 2000-style safe harbor reprieve from the Supreme Court. Every piece is something of a long shot, but Trump has literally everything to lose.

And 72 million people Americans voted for him. According to another post in this thread, this is almost as much as the population of all of Germany. Another more dangerous version of Trump could easily be elected in 2024 or 2028.
Yup. If this shit happened anywhere in latin america, you'd invade or sanction us in the time it takes to say the word BBQ.
The level of double standard and hipocrisy that the US is spouting is insane at this moment. Frankly, i'd be more comfortable with establishing relations with the chinese. I know they're evil, but at least they are serious about climate change, and try to be serious about policies.

And not like the US ever stepped in with good intentions, they just make up an excuse.
I would venture to say that substantially more of the world is coming around to this point of view in light of our current election disaster.

People who used to give the US the benefit of the doubt will switch from automatically trusting the US to automatically distrusting the US. People who distrusted us will switch to outright hating us. These changes will not be easy to undo.

As I'm sure you know, Republicans don't care about being brazen hypocrites, they don't care about the rule of law, or our standing with allies, or the corrosive damage they're doing to our democracy or its institutional underpinnings, etc., which they have already admitted is an impediment to their minority rule in perpetuity. We're on the verge of authoritarianism, which is being facilitated by elected Republicans in order to maintain power, and almost half the voters are totally on board. So, yeah, if I were you, I'd call China, too.

If you channel this distrust into being strong when negotiating with them, then this may actually benefit Chile in major ways. You may find yourself accepting worse deals when dealing with EU since "they are the good guys - so if they rip us off a bit it's ok".

However, EU advertises and celebrates the fact that they play hard ball when negotiating. If you remember that their hardball is meant to get you to accept less in your deals with them, then it will be possible for Chile to do a good job in making deals and in playing hardball with both EU AND with China.

I think that this would be about a good a situation as possible in terms of international relations. As the US declines, others will move up - and not just EU and China. This is a good time for other countries to review their international standing, and in many cases upgrade them for their own benefit.

Having good relations with EU AND with China also protects countries in the case that either EU or China goes crazy the way that the US is going crazy now.

And winning back voters Hillary lost isn't progress lol. She was supposed to appeal to the middle as well, remember?
That's an indictment of the voters rather than either candidate. They ran on practically the same platform. One could blame the email propaganda campaign by Wikileaks and others, or one could blame Hillary's lack of campaign stops in the Rust Belt. But if we go down that rabbit hole we're just getting farther away from policy being the deciding factor of how American's vote. Personally, I blame misogyny and American credulity.

The primary is utterly irrelevant, do I really have to explain why? But you're right to point out that FL Dems saddled you with a candidate who washed out in FL. Kind of raises some pointed questions, doesn't it?
Yes, it shows how utterly insane our nomination process is. That southern states sandbag us into playing for conservative votes (and then don't even turn out for the candidate) shows that we need to change how we do things. The biggest problem is that people don't turn out for primaries so a minority of voters are choosing for everyone. People like to point the blame at the DNC as if they're the ones playing kingmaker when it's the laziness of the voters that keep giving us shit sandwiches to vote for.

But again, this would all be moot if we elected presidents like a real democracy. In a sane world, the party that lost by 7 million popular votes would be the one questioning their messaging techniques.

Populists (and "national socialists") look at the supposedly secret deals that run the world "behind the scenes". Child's play. Except that childishness is sinister in adults.

Want to see highest voting turn out in primaries for democrats and the largest margin of victory for any president? I’m not joking... and this is an indictment of an American voter:

Not just than Trump, I’d say most people in general. But, that’s not why people would be voting for him... it’s the celebrity.

I’d vote for the Rock, but as a huge pro wrestling fan, I know more about his life, than I do some of my family members.

I do recall a few times that wrestlers did "I'm running for president" things. Although from what I remember, most of them were just skits/part of the show. And the few that were "serious" amounted to about the same success that Kanye West's 2020 run had, if they even got that far.

Yeah, Bob Backland in the late 90s. Jessy Ventura won in Minnesota and Rick Flair could win in North Carolina. Oh and Glenn Jacobs has wrestled, while being a mayor. Tony Halme pretty much ran as a Nazi in Finland, before that was cool again. Not wrestling, Manny Pacquiao is a member of Philippine government...

Edit: Ha! I knew he ran, didn’t realize Tony Halme actually won being a member of Helsinki parliament.

I can't find any clips of it for some reason, but I do specifically remember that Hulk Hogan pulled "I'M RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT, VOTE FOR ME BROTHER" back in the 90's, and he kept running that act for a couple of weeks. He did this act where he wore one of those Uncle Sam hats to the ring, red/white/blue everything, etc. And I want to say he even had a short promo that ran during commercial breaks. Just for show and wasn't a serious run, but 13-year-old me thought it was pretty amusing.

The term “con” is actually short for Confidence Scam... That’s the point of “falling into place”... this is low level grifting... it’s not even interesting or clever.
