I made that point earlier. But here’s a good article showing that it was a high turnout:

In all reality, this election will have had the highest turnout of any election ever in this country, when total enfranchisement is taken into account. There have been elections with higher turnout as a percentage of VEP, but there have been massive increases in eligibility since then, as well. Jacksonian democracy of the early/mid 1800s, the 15th Amendment in 1870, the 19th Amendment in 1920, the VRA in 1965, and the voting age change in 1970 all helped to increase the pool of eligible votes in this country far, far past what was possible in the first half-century of US history.
This election will probably ultimately reach ~162m voters out of 330m total population, which actually represents a huge jump in percentage from the previous high in 2008. I'm not sure we'll ever see turnout this high again, at least unless we get some meaningful election reform that includes sending ballots to everyone.

Let's keep election chat in the election thread.
I could not agree with you more Themius, the horrifying number of people who were somehow ok voting for the Trump Crime Family (aka Racist Death Cult). And I return to a common theme, I see no way to fix this in the United States.
No, he's still not conceding, just attempting to save some face from the GSA actions.

It won't be a normal jail and he'll be treated far better than you or I ever would if we were ever convicted of a crime, but he'll still lose his freedom and fortune.
His children will face a far grimmer outcome than that as well, since they won't have the title of ex-president to help shield them as Trump will have.
You remember that Hunter Biden laptop nonsense from last month? About the legally blind computer repairman who was certain it was Hunter Biden who left that laptop behind and never claimed it that he gave to Rudy Giuliani?
He closed his shop and skipped town. Nothing the least bit suspicious about that, right?

Election misinformation? OANN? /shockedpikachu
Axios: YouTube temporarily suspends, demonetizes OANN
YouTube has barred One America News Network from posting new videos for a week and stripped it of its ability to make money off existing content after the Trump-friendly channel uploaded a video promoting a phony cure for COVID-19, YouTube spokesperson Ivy Choi tells Axios.
Why it matters: YouTube has been criticized for allowing OANN to spread misinformation using its platform, particularly around coronavirus and the election. This marks the Google-owned service's first crackdown against OANN.
Details: OANN's one-week suspension from posting new videos or livestreams is the result of a "strike" YouTube issued for violating its COVID-19 misinformation policy, which prohibits saying there is a guaranteed cure to the virus. YouTube took down the video that triggered the strike.
- OANN is also suspended from the YouTube Partner Program, which means if it wants to monetize its videos again, it will have to re-apply.
- YouTube has a three-strikes policy before an account is terminated. This is OANN's first strike, but it has violated the platform's COVID-19 misinformation policy before, meaning it gets no more warnings if it breaks the rules again — just additional strikes.
- YouTube says it does not consider OANN an authoritative news source.
The big picture: YouTube, like other platforms, has grown more willing to take action against conservative-leaning accounts that spread misinformation. It has also been trying to provide greater visibility to legitimate news outlets.
- A quartet of Democratic senators sent a letter Tuesday to YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki pressing her company to do more to stem the tide of election misinformation.
- Posting videos that make false claims about election results isn't against YouTube's rules.
The other side: Trump and his allies have urged followers to tune into alternative news sources such as OANN and Newsmax that have questioned Joe Biden's victory, eschewing Fox News, which they feel has gone soft.

I wouldn't read too much into it. He was probably getting harassed and death threats. It's all too common (YES, from the nutters on BOTH SIDES) these days. Hopefully we'll get to a point where someone in law enforcement starts taking these seriously so it doesn't happen as often.

Trump has said many times over the years his m.o. in life is never to admit you lose, even when you do (see Trump Casino, Trump University, etc.). He's said it shows weakness to admit you've lost. So it shouldn't surprise us that he won't concede. At this point I think the GOP has taken the angle that they'll let Trump not concede and tweet whatever nonsense he wants to for the next 57 days while the transition moves forward.
It's kind of pathetic actually. It's the kind of thing you see normally with stroke, Alzheimer's, and dementia patients where caretakers will go along with delusional thoughts to avoid upsetting the patient. I'm sure many people here have experienced relatives going through that. That's 100% what this feels like now.
