Last time you shut off your PC?

The last time I shut off my PC was about a month ago. It takes too long to start it up, so I just let it go into sleep mode instead. Some people swear that you should turn it off, while others say it's best to leave it on. Which boat are you in?

I shut mine off every night. Get an SSD and there should be no reason for a slow start up.

My desktop? I shut it off when I go to bed. My Linux server runs 24/7 (which is good because it's needed for our internet to work).

If you have an SSD there's no reason to not shut it off every night.

If you don't have an SSD, get one. They're pretty fucking cheap now.

I have an SSD but I usually put it in sleep mode. I'm not sure which is best.

Shut mine off when I'm not using it. Takes all of 8-10 seconds to boot up and be usable.

Only if I go into hospital for operations or something. Apart from that, never turn it off. All my hard drives are SSD as well, I just don't see a need to, power drain when it's not doing nothing is so little anyway. Apart from restarts for updates, it's on desktop 24/7 -

Exactly this is what I am doing too. But usually I do a pacman -Syu before shutdown so everything is up to date when I turn it back on.

Hell even if it took 30 seconds or a minute, you can just go to the toilet or get a drink or whatever

I run windows, so updates are usually done in the background (for better or worse)..

Use my computer for Plex. I do have unified remote but I tend to forget to shut off computer from phone before I sleep.
