Mag'har? They are just darker Orcs
Nightborne? Emo Bloodelves
Zandalaris? Decadent Trolls

Void are just edgier Nightelves
Lightforged Draenei are shiny Draeneis
Dark Iron Dwarfs are hard working minedwellers
Kul Tiran are chubbier Humans

The females make a grunt when hurt which sounds like it's cut short. Annoys the hell out of me. But agree on the rest.

I honestly think the only answer for why we got HM Tauren > Taunka and LF Draenei > Broken is that they were easier to "make playable".
One was literally a pallet swap; the other was a horn/antler swap.
Broken and Taunka both would have needed brand new female models and taunka heads were a helmet challenge.

Yes, some of the "allied races" that are pure recolours should have been just character customization options within parent race. 1 expansion later and Blizzard finally caught up to the idea they should do it (extra skin colours, tattoos, sub-race like customizations for trolls, dwarves etc.).

Some races like Kul Tirans and Vulpera actually looks distinctive enough, but then we have stuff like LF Draenei and Mag'har orcs that are recolours with uninspired racials to boot.

That would have taken actual work, as it would have taken all the helmets in the game to be remodelled for Taunka heads.
