I think it's completely justified that statues of former slave owners and people who committed genocide be destroyed, they don't deserve to be recognized or celebrated. But we also should remember their existence as a reminder of what they did and why it's wrong.

But that's on us to teach that part of history, and it's a subject that we don't delve deep enough into unless you want to actually study history beyond the high school level.

If that’s the case, why don’t people understand the history of why USA has America as part of the name? One would think that naming continents would result in similar knowledge that people like you, claim will be imparted by these statues. Yet, the cartographer who wrote his name on a map, is being treated like some celebrity, instead of happenstance. Doesn’t this prove that these statues glorify racists, instead of teaching history?
