Think a playthrough demo of a mission is coming too this week so we will finally see it in action fully.

Being a 40k game i thought it would be more shooter-like but the trailer looks like a mix between melee and ranged, just like vermintide.
40K is shootier than stuff like Fantasy but not by much. It's not Mass Effect, most units carry melee weapons, all armies have at least a couple dedicated melee units and a bunch of hybrids that can at least hold their own in close quarters and most important characters are swinging swords, claws or other assorted implement around and it works thanks to rule of cool.
Besides, the best action-based 40K gameplay, Space Marine, seamlessly blended melee and ranged. I expect Darktide to do the same, with a bit more focus on ranged than in Vermintide. FatShark knows that people love Vermintide's crunchy melee.
It is all that is left unsaid upon which tragedies are built -Kreia
The internet: where to every action is opposed an unequal overreaction.
Some gameplay though there will be a longer playthrough of a mission later on. Think it looks awesome very much like vermintide but i love those games so very happy.
Would love a admech or something with turrets and flamers etc but im sure there will be plenty of classes or subclasses added.
Good times to be a 40k fan videogame vise with Darktide, Space Marine 2 and Rogue trader on the way.

Lots of hands on and previews avaible now from pc gamer, ign, Force gaming and gamespot for example and they all seem to love it so looks like fatshark nailed it.
PC gamer said Darktide absolutely rules and have a little article and video

Actually looks pretty cool. Kinda wish there were more character options to choose from, I really liked the 5 characters dynamic of Vermintide.
Haven't had too much time to read through previews, but do we know how the melee vs. ranged balance is? Like, I kinda assume it's more like Vermintide where melee is what you'll be doing most of the time and ranged options will be more for certain hordes/specialist and whatnot, but I'm kinda hoping we can have more of a gun-based experience if we want.
I love me some chunky melee, but I like to shoot stuff, too.
Yeah im sure there will be plenty of classes added though but as we now can be a party of 4 of the same class the unique party banter will be different but they said they added 70k voice lines and that banter will be there so lets hope it's atleast great but perhaps not as awesome as vermintide. Seemed alright from those videos though

Looks to be plenty of melee still but abit more focus on ranged combat this time around. The veteran seemed to only stick to the lasgun and only chainsawing some here and there but the zealot and ogryn melees much more. To early to say not seen that much yet but i do hope there will be tons of ranged combat.
Flamers and plasma weapons will be in too and every class will have 5-6 weapons unique to them both melee and ranged.

Well I meant more gameplay variance dynamic, since having 5 characters in 4 slots provides much more party composition options and varied gameplay than the same 4 roles, where you feel like you have to play a certain way to fill the niche. This isn't like a Left 4 Dead where everyone is the same and your gameplay comes from whatever weapons you choose to pick up. It looks like they're tailoring the gameplay around the 4 different characters. Like the soldier dude is gonna be the primary ranged weapons guy, and it doesn't look like the sister of battle would be able to just pick up ranged gameplay if she wanted to. That kind of leaves you stuck with just one soldier option out the gate.
I love that they're picking Nurgle as the main bad. He's my fave of the 4 main Chaos gods, and they don't really get enough love in the videogames. It's almost always Khorne or Tzeentch centric.

Rather disappointed there’s no tech priest class, will likely just play the Zealot as it’s the only character type that really grab me.
All I ever wanted was the truth. Remember those words as you read the ones that follow. I never set out to topple my father's kingdom of lies from a sense of misplaced pride. I never wanted to bleed the species to its marrow, reaving half the galaxy clean of human life in this bitter crusade. I never desired any of this, though I know the reasons for which it must be done. But all I ever wanted was the truth.
There will probably be DLC for additional characters. What they launch with probably only matters in so far as they provide a gameplay function core to the game.

Adeptus Arbites could be a cool DLC character. You could be a Tropper or Regulator caught up in the shit of the hive as all hell breaks loose. Cyber-mastiff potentially. Can't recall if Regulators can use them or not. Perhaps Enforcers.
A arbites with a cyber mastiff and a combat shotgun or a suppresion shield and power/shock maul would be awesome and arbites would fit right in the setting in the hive city.
