    Happens every single generation.

It was made in error and rectified well before this post was added onto MMO...

    Slow!

Still... would be nice if you could chill playing WoW on a coach off a console doing trivial or mundane content.

    ...And it's gone?
Maybe they want to put WoW on consoles in the future, and this was just an 'early' accident?

TBH it's a joke. The "next gen" consolses will only be current generation PCs in fact.
Yea that's a load of rubbish from EA, but it's nothing new, EA have always engaged in scummy marketing and buissness tactics.

You are 100% correct.... 10 years ago.

It would be a legthy post to go into alot of detail and I'm about to go to bed so be short, Hardware APIs are more standardised than back then, OS are much better at translation via the middle ware than back then, but also the attitude to performance is no longer the same, company's don't really bother going down to the levels that programmers like carmac used to because its just not needed anymore, also most games are scripted into off the shelf engines now, so any gains made at that level of the hardware API are nothing compared to what's lost in the engines them selves.

Ultimately the differences nowadays are just miniscule. We have hit a tech point in gaming where the power hardware can provide far out strips what we are using it for so lots of the power is just getting used up by lazy devs and programmers to write ineffecint scripts in off the shelf inefficient engines.

There are people who have run analysers on these things and where concols might get a few ms better transaction times on the hardware, it's all meaning less when it hits the bottle necks in the os, engines and games.

FFXIV works just fine on console, and it has way, way, way more ability bloat than WoW does.

It uses the face buttons with the shoulder buttons as modifiers for a total of 32 hotkeys available.

Okay, lemme restate the point: Yes, it "works just fine," but you're always going to have slower reactions than someone equally skilled with keyboard and mouse. In other words, you're severely handicapped if you're doing anything but raid finder.

Lmao no. If anything a controller works better for everything but Healing and only in PVP is a M+K better.

WoW could easily go to consoles and thats not even counting that you can plug a M+K into PS4/5 and XboxOne/Scarlet

Yeah, okay, so keyboard turners aren't at a disadvantage either, because the best a player could possibly be on controller is equal to a keyboard turner.

Also, the fact you can use a keyboard and mouse on a console is irrelevant to the fact a controller is worse than keyboard and mouse. Nothing in the post you responded to even mentions a game console.

Doesn’t FF14 also have snails pace game design with majorly telegraphed encounter abilities? I haven’t played it and just going by what people have said in the past. If that’s the case I can see why it works. WoW is much faster based combat and requires much faster reaction times and also has tighter tuning when it comes to damage.
So just going by what I’ve heard about Final Fantasy vs WoW, WoW would need a decent design change to make it work with a controller while keeping it tuned the way it is now.

Because they arent at a disadvantage. Even on PC a large portion of the population uses a controller for a reason.

Not even close. If anything going from FFXIV raiding back to WoW raiding felt like walking through molasses. XIV might start slow but by the time you get to even 60 it's constant movement and GCD/oGCD rotation. FFXIV rotations make current WoW ones look like a bad joke

Umm, isn’t the FF14 gcd set at 2 seconds? Don’t bosses have major signals for abilities they are getting ready to do to avoid and/or plan for?
I also don’t understand how FF14 rotations make WoW look like a joke if WoW has a faster CD rate, unless you just mean that it has so many abilities (some of which I’ve heard done even matter) that it makes WoW a joke.

XIV rotations have lots of oGCD abilities that you need to weave between abilities during the GCD. It's not like WoW where you just oGCD a couple big DPS cooldowns during a burst phase or whatever.

Dragoon for example has a few Jump abilities you need to cycle through during the GCD of your standard rotation, which has you cycling back and forth through three different mini-rotations to maintain debuffs, and build and spend unique class resources. Plus they have oGCD abilities that specifically empower the next attack, etc. All while switching between the flank and rear of the enemy because their abilities have different positional requirements to maximize damage.

Encounter design is very similar to WoW. Maybe simpler in the early levels, but it gets more complex as you go. I would say most of the encounters in XIV are also way less forgiving. If you misstep even on normal group finder difficulties you can get oneshot by boss mechanics. And timing for telegraphed attacks is usually very tight, you need to be ready to move immediately. WoW is generally way more lenient.

And I say this as someone who doesn't love combat in FFXIV. It is a way more difficult game to play well.
