Again - i regret playing on PvP server now.

I do not agree that it is always better.

How is that the case in retail? You can do raids alone? Mythic+ alone?
I've never said thaat you can do everything alone but probably 95% of content yes.
It is just hyperbole showing differences between both games.

Yes. You sign for raid/dungeon in Retail and you do not have to say anything.

Show me single video from Classic proving this.

If only they could open it up so that it wasn't a one and done thing wouldn't matter really. I think the person or three that got this on my original server do not even play anymore and haven't for a long long time. The same will happen for AQ on classic servers will become irrelevant and the players that do get it will stop playing and the title and mount will be non-existent.

What if you are role-playing a toon that is against opening and hitting this gong?

    - no raid/group/server wide quests and bosses

I am not saying it is better or worse.
    It is just different.
-You can play classic this way as well. also, you can have a very engaging experience on retail servers, just find the right guild/community.
-You don't have to play PVP servers.
-this isn't a game flaw, this is a trust issue. See Point 1. Find the right guild/community.
-I don't remember this in Sunwell for BC. Yeah, it was a race to tag world bosses but that's what we do.
-you can buy almost anything with real money in classic.
-we're talking about professions as a selling point? anything you can craft, you can upgrade doing raids. professions suck honestly in every level of the game.
-you can sit in trade in classic and join groups too. you can even wait to be summoned.

If you're trying to find quality in the SAME EXACT place that has toxicity, you'll get a mixed bag leaning more toward toxic results.

Go somewhere were toxicity isn't allowed, and find your community there. There are plenty of guilds out there free of the drama, free of the news and politics.

But like I said, don't look in the same place you find toxicity.

Probably not easy to justify your toon somehow knowing that attacking - and probably suiciding - into these particular mobs would cause the opening to be prevented, I think.

Made it to level 20. Couldn't find anyone to play with who wasn't an asshole. Couldn't find people to quest with. I didn't even find a guild. Finally gave up.

Like...all I wanted from the day they announced classic wow was to see the whole AQ gates event -- the buildup, the donations, all that. I was looking forward to farming and contributing. But it's just been an asshole parade where every float is a different streamer.

Such a shame. Could have been so much more fun.
That's not an issue with Classic, that's an issue with the gaming community in general rn. Everyone wants to do things as quick and painless as possible. Pally DPS? Not invited. Arcane mage? Fuck off. If Blizzard actually did what I believe was necessary, shutting down all the guide websites, this probably wouldn't have happened.

Then why is the classic community ten times more toxic than most other communities?

And why are they so racist? Are most communities like that too?

The Classic community is made up of the worst elitist and most toxic human beings on the internet. Something about Classic just fosters a really terrible state of mind. It's why I haven't touched classic in a few months now. I can go to 4chan if I really need to be a part of toxicity. At least there it's free.

I have gotten 2 toons to 60 in classic and one toon to 38 without ever joining a guild. I have had 98% positive experiences in Classic. I only remember 3 dungeons runs to date on all my characters that involved any real stupidity and/or nonsense. My first 60 had little or no trouble getting groups for any and all content including Ony, MC and ZG weekly pugs (getting a little harder now on my other toons ...but that's to be expected as most have moved past the lower level content). On my first 60 my pug hinterland elite quest group teamed up with an Alli mage and her 60 palli friend to get those quests done and get the mallet for ZF...on a PvP server. Just last week in a pug Strat run I rolled greed on a Perdition blade drop before someone said all roll need. Not only did they let me then /roll when I rolled a 98 the toon that won the Need roll traded me the blade. Zero hassle about the whole thing. I sold the blade on the AH and forwarded 1/3 of the proceeds to that guy for being such an honourable gentleman about the whole thing.

This whole thing about Classic being 10 times more toxic than Retail (or other games including Vanilla) is bull. There's always idiots in all games. And they (the idiots) are more present at the higher or more exclusive elements of content like the Scarab Lord / AQ thing. But as the old poker saying goes "if you can't find the sucker at the table, you're it". If you're finding that level of toxicity in Classic it's more a reflection of you than Classic imho.

There is no "the classic community", there are many communities. Unfortunately, one of the smallest is also the most disruptive.

You must not spend a lot of time in forums or discords. Compare r/wow to r/classicwow for example and you'll quickly see that one is a lot more toxic than the other.

I play on a RP PvE server nowadays because that's the only place you don't have to deal with the toxic asshats that infest the PvP servers.

Nice anecdotal story. Truly heartwarming. Unfortunately, this is completely a minority. Just look at the Classic forums both here and the official forums.

Almost no toxicity in either of those. There are a lot of bad players, but someone is not toxic because they're bad at the game. It's invariably the people that think they're world first caliber but are really just average for heroic that are the most toxic.

Ah yes, "I had a good experience, therefore if you don't you must be the problem". The logic of the Classic crowd once again forces us into submission.

Your experience is no more or less anecdotal than mine thus it is no more or less true or representative.

You also can't empirically and objectively demonstrate the "Classic" forums are more toxic than Vanilla Forums were or current Retail forums are. Haven't been on an internet forum involving gaming that I wouldn't consider toxic, personally.

But the bigger point is why would anyone waste any time pursuing Classic forums. Every single stupid argument, suggestion or thought about Classic / Vanilla has not only been beaten to death but most likely stated in a more well thought out, intelligent and coherent manner. You're looking for negativity if you're spend considerable time rehashing 15 year old arguments and/or trying to prove why Retail is so much better than Classic etc, etc.

The same applies to the "discords"...hard to think of a bigger waste of time that will destroy your love of any game.

You get out of a game what you put in. I'm not in a guild because I've never been in a guild in any game that didn't have drama for example. I long ago learned that WoW is just a game and the "rewards" are just pixels. My enjoyment of the game is not based on the pixelated rewards. I've played the game, Classic only, almost every night since release for a couple of hours for fun. And because I'm only semi-invested in the game (if you can call playing every day semi-invested) I could care less about most of the things that people that take the game more seriously are pulling their hair out about. There's a loading screen that reminds you to take everything, including WoW, in moderation. If playing WoW get's you that worked up you should find another game to play. And I can tell you from experience in Vanilla that the game, and your experience from it, is much more enjoyable when you don't take it too seriously. Because, you know, it is at the end of the day, a GAME.

The forums, discords, and chat channels in the actual game all disprove what you're saying. Just because you don't want to acknowledge it doesn't mean the Classic community isn't one of the most toxic communities on the planet.

This shit is so funny, this is why I don't play classic and i'm thankful I got to play Vanilla in all it's glory. So many entitled kids that call everything in classic griefing or trolling, when I did play classic when it came out I had one kid whisper me angry msgs for an hour because I was AOE farming on my mage BUT he was trying to level, and he had more of a right to level then I did to farm gold. *nod*

This is why hardcore MMO's don't exist and it's just a casual slurp derp fest, because anything hardcore requires a dog eat dog world and kids these days can't handle it and need a safe space. SO WHAT you're getting griefed, deal with it. My first ever MMO I was 12 and it was FFXI, anyone who played FFXI during ZM/COP knows what i'm talking about, EVERY single boss/NM was a world spawn and they dropped ALL the best loot. Do you have any idea how many times I stayed up on a school night camping a boss/NM that had a spawn window of 8-48hours only to have someone run in at the last minute and steal it when it did spawn? or have a chinese gold farmer bot suddenly log in as it spawned and took it? OR how about when I did get the claim and some tard grabbed threat by healing me and dragged the mob so it would reset and they could claim it.

Did I cry? no Did I put in a ticket asking for bans? no, why? because it's all part of the game. Deal with it kids. The bottom line is the only reason classic seems "More toxic" is because the 90% of the playerbase who are having fun, have no reason to come here crying and complaining. Which means the forums are just crying posts and it makes it seem more toxic when 10% of the playerbase are flooding forums with tears and the other 90% are having fun playing the game
