Trade chat spam is from their competitors, who now will be much richer.

Because you can prove those screengrabs are 100% legit and not faked in any way, right? Oh right, you can't prove that.
Tbh, there's about a 100% likelihood those screengrabs are real. The only reason they're showing up now is because the internet's justice boner is now throbbing for competitive WoW players again. Nothing will come of it because Blizzard knows this kind of shit happens, especially at the beginning of a raid tier. All that said, I do kind of wish we could go back to the good ol days when the biggest controversy in the WF race was somebody piloting another player's toon.

Officially they have a policy of permabanning anyone from Gallywix who is found to do anything RMT related ever.

So either some people were escaping their audits... or there is some sketchy drama going on.

They started issuing bans for that a week ago, after not doing anything about it for months/years.

There's a lot of grey area with boosting. Some players only ever boosted for gold, some boosted for RMT. It's entirely possible that a player who boosted for gold would run with other players who were boosting for RMT. There should be some shared responsibility for all players but I don't think banning all Gallywix boosters as many players are suggesting in this thread is the right move.

    Well not surprised.
Anyone who thinks these communities are run by gold instead of "Real money" are lying to themselves.

But still, I'm glad Blizzard is taking action because this will cut down on the spam in Trade on every realm.

With that kind of money available, can't they just transfer over some alts or even a alt guild bank?
Don't forget, "streamer community runs" are also RMT, due to streamers getting money from subscriptions, likes and follows.

I think paying for a WoW token to then use that gold to buy a run is just as much RMT as anything else.

The reason for the WoW token existing was to protect players from unsafe gold selling sites that might steal their credit card. But if you have a non-sketchy group like Gallywix doing it, that doesn't really apply anyway. Plus its 2020 and there are plenty of "safe" ways to transfer money, unlike 15 years ago when WoW started.

If they're gonna blow this up, then it ALL needs to go, including the token.

Now if they could just take care of the other 10 boosting communities.

It's pretty funny seeing people argue which is worse Laissez-faire Capitalism, vs the Communism of China(which really isn't communism), or the Communism of Russia which most people don't know shit about. Newsflash folks they all suck and fuck over the average person. What we all need is a Democratic-Socialist Society. We need to be able to elect our representatives in government(that's the Democratic part) but there needs to be some socialism(a giant social safety net that provides healthcare, housing, and good education for everyone). Capitalism is good and needs to exist but there needs a lot more restrictions/regulations to prevent the 1% from owning 90% of the wealth in the world vs the 99%.

Liking and following costs nothing, no do those alone make a streamer money.
Subscriptions do, and yes that is a paywall. But it's not really a legit one. You can easily join streamers without being subbed, nor are you paying for the run. Your paying to be subbed. With the runs being a benefit. It's not RMT. If a streamer said "buy me 25 gift subs and I will run you through this" then yes. But streamers arnt doing that, they are doing runs. And inviting viewers. And sometimes onto subs, so they can make sure assholes don't get in.

It always leads up to trading for real money when you get excesses of gold.

Thankfully Blizzard isn't stupid enough to ban streamers who promote their fucking game for shit as stupid as what you're recommending. Grow the fuck up, dude. RMT isn't ruining your precious WoW.

To be honest IMO i don't think wow streamers are bringing a single new player to game the people that watch wow streamers already play or no longer do.

    Is anyone surprised?
Of course they were making real money somehow, NOBODY would spend that much time and effort for in-game gold alone. Trade chat has been nothing but Gallywix-spam at times.

Good riddance, RMT = what ruins things like world mount camping and BMAH bidding.

And lol @ idiots trying to make this about the WoW token... Guess ya'll angery that your boosting service is disrupted.

    You can think that.

    And you'd be wrong.

But you're free to think that.

eh i know a lot of people who do it to get their AH mount and similar stuff, and then they rotate out again.

then again i also know a lot of people who have been scammed by boosting communities that don't pay out.

i should probably do some too tbh, kinda afraid what all this boosting is going to do to consumable prices on shadowlands launch, be a good idea to have some gold buffer.

Apple, Google, Facebook and Amazon are currently in court for this type of antitrust behavior. Antitrust laws prohibit a number of business practices that restrain trade. Might not happen now but in the future it will.

...what did I just read? In what world is Blizzard banning a boosting service relatable to trillion-dollar antitrust lawsuits?

It's an advertisement bot - after 10 posts it'll probably start posting boner pill ads.
They always told me I would miss my family... but I never miss from close range.
