This video shows the challenge cards from the beta. Based on that it looks like you can earn enough credits to buy the challenge cards for other heroes. So, this game can be mostly F2P if you want it to, depending on what you want to spend your credits on.

Level 3 - 100 credits
Level 11 - 200 credits
Level 21 - 200 credits
Level 25 - 300 credits
Level 36 - 500 credits
Total - 1300 credits
Looks like this is the credit levels for the first 6 characters.

So it is confirmed you can earn the credits for the premium cards by playing the game. It will obviously take longer than it would if you just spent the money but I think it's fine to give players that option if they really want it right now.
It seems like a decent balance. If people do not want to pay any money for future hero premium cards (aka battle passes) they don't have to and can still unlock the passes by playing the other heroes. Regardless they get the heroes core gameplay and story regardless of whether they opt for the premium pass.
The thing is that with these kind of boosters and instant gratification techniques, the publishers ALWAYS ask the developers to make the free grind painfully obnoxious. Tthere are examples where only a masochist would grind instead of just buying it right away, like with Shadow of War that added like 30 hours of boring grinding and farming, unless you bought legendary orcs to get the true ending.
So while it sounds good on paper, in practice the ones who don't want to pay for the stuff generally get shat on just to make them buy the thing instead.
Any one here that know how to get color in cutscenes?
This is how my game looks, the character or characters in focus are always black & white
Nobody is saying the game is Free to Play. Its just not necessarily Pay 2 win as people have pointed out. Its a bit demanding but not as bad as past examples. If that changes, this thread will light up again.
Must be a specific option you have on cause that didn't seem to be a thing when I played. This is how my game looks, the character or characters in focus are always black & white

Gotta say I wasnt expecting to enjoy the campaign that much, but so far the story is good and I have a good time. The beta didnt really show a good picture of the game, I almost canceled my order because it left me unsure, honestly glad I didn't.
I haven't bought the game yet it I plan to. So far I haven't seen many complaints about it (I still don't like the price so might wait until November). Nothing about the P2W Boogeyman either. Looks like the devs were straight up like they said. The Internet really needs to learn to chill sometimes.
People are too eager to be the Doomsayer who was right.

Yeah, it's pretty fun, only really touched the campaign but thankfully that is fantastic. The worse thing about it so far is the bugs but hopefully, those get ironed out over the next week or so. I fully expect online reviewers to complain about the microtransactions, which are pretty non-intrusive and easy to ignore, or that it isn't the game they wanted.
Glad to hear that people are enjoying the campaign. I think I'm gonna hold off on the game either for next gen when there's more content or a price drop. I really have no interest in any of the endgame stuff, so a 10 hour campaign is a little steep for 60 dollars imo.
I didn't really like this game, it felt a bit too clunky for me. I hope some of the newer characters are more fluid and faster
For everyone that tried it, do you think it can be compared to Destiny 2? I was considering buying the game since I'm a big Marvel fan, but I keep reading the reviews on steam and they all complain abut being P2W and that you have to do the same missions over and over at end game.. So it's nothing like Destiny where at least we have an open world to explore and do the missions when we find them?
You don't understand. Having an unpayed full time job that no one appreciates is the magic of classic.
It's about the journey. The journey into depression. The journey of running a daycare full of middle-aged alcoholics ignoring their SOs and avoiding social engagements to fulfill something they wanted 15 years ago before everyone realized it's not hard at all.
There is nothing P2W in this game, that would be one thing. After that, no its not like Destiny 2. It would be closer to Warframe style of missions (not the open world part), where you have control/assault/defend/etc. Some are very quick drop in drop out style, while others take longer and have bigger map, where you can find side objective / chests. So yeah, more Warframe in that sense.
