So dying is just...living in another realm?

I really cannot feel any any less of a fuck anymore about anyone dying in Warcraft after how Shadowlands are being presented.

You literally go to heaven if you were good, hell if you were bad, or some sort of soul stasis shit (based on today's cinematic with Ursoc) where you can REALLY die from (OR FUCKING CAN YOU, IS THERE A SHADOWLANDS BEYOND THE SHADOWLANDS?).

But otherwise....you just live on another plane, doing the same shit you were doing in life: fighting, fucking, eating and ....dying...again....

Seriously all of Azeroth could die I couldn't care less, since everyone would just be doing the same thing in the "Afterlife", whatever that even means anymore.

    I feel the same.

The afterlife is just a class change. Still flesh and blood.

Some things are just better left a mystery.

That is why its called an afterlife. Not everyone goes to Ardenweld either so on and so forth. I don't know what you are even moaning about. Ursoc as far as everyone is concerned is gone because the realm was dying thus a sacrifice had to be made.

Some things are just better left a mystery.

No, mysteries eventually get solved. Thats just how it is.

Not really, you don't get to pick where you are and you start at the bottom of the rung.

Don't confuse our (the maw walker) presence as living creatures within the afterlife, with the actual residents of said afterlife.

Challenge Mode : Play WoW like my disability has me play:
You will need two people, Brian MUST use the mouse for movement/looking and John MUST use the keyboard for casting, attacking, healing etc.
Briand and John share the same goal, same intentions - but they can't talk to each other, however they can react to each other's in game activities.
Now see how far Brian and John get in WoW.

They literally just killed Ursoc's soul.

It's difficult to say without more information.

It seems to be a second life, but, does the "body" even work outside the shadowlands? Might be what we see as spirits in the world of the living. Though somehow they can manifest and attack us all the same in WoW.

I don't think they can reproduce. But, not sure, i'm speculating. Haven't played the beta.

So, the question is, what is the shadowlands? A place where your "soul" gets trapped and you are given a second chance, after which if you die again you disappear? Or are the souls funneled into some cosmic wheel to be re-incarnated or something? Cause honestly, there is no way these lands could just keep receiving an ever bigger number of souls from dead people.

The shadowlands as it exists currently isnt what we as the living originally go to when we die. Something happened that caused the eternal ones (leaders of the covenants) to turn on the Jailor and imprison him within the maw. The maw wasnt what it was and it was the original place ALL souls went or at least passed through.

Zovaal (the jailor/banished one) prolly did something like indulged himself by absorbing anima from the souls which made his fellow eternal ones turn on him, imprison and when that wasnt enough, starved him of anima by introducing the Arbiter on traffic detail. Those who went to bastion would live on to fulfill a duty of ferrying souls but are stripped of everything they are. Ardenweald is where those bound to nature go. All wild gods n such go here to undergo the rebirthing process and venture back through the rift of aln to the emerald dream and once again manifest into the world of the living. Ursocs soul is gone as the last of his anima was sapped to feed the other groves. Revendreth is the last chance u have to atone for ur sins, and if u cant, u are cast to the maw where the jailor will torture and fragment ur soul, eventually consuming it entirely.

In life, our souls gain anima, in death our souls are then USED by these asshole forces to sustain themselves hence the prison Sylvanas refers to. We serve self-righteous arseholes who just use our suffering in life as means to power them; batteries.

If the dead can gain new bodies in the Shadowlands apparently, the question is can they have children?

That'd be really odd when you think about it.

This post is terrible. What version of an afterlife would make you happy OP? The real one? The one you apparently know the secret to? Because I know a billions of people have been pondering, fighting, and dying over what they think it is. This is what blizzard chose the afterlife in this universe to be so that's what it is and how it works. How is this any worse than any other concept of existence after death in other real world belief systems? In fact many aspects of it mirror those actual belief systems. Just think slightly before posting something like this.

Well...so far we know your soul can be wounded, and your soul can be destroyed or it can be broken down to its base form which is essentially just energy..

The Venthyr torture you, feeding off your anima until you relent or become nothing. The Kyrian indoctrinate you, binding you to their cause and purpose. The Night Fae basically use you as fertilizer to bring back "Gods" they deem worthy or important. The Necrolords conscript you and turn you into a eternal warrior, fighting to safe guard the Shadowlands..none of this sounds really that pleasant, or how things should be for an "Afterlife" so, lets deem that the Shadowlands is not what it should be at this point. They did call it the Machine of Death, and a Machine needs to be built, needs to be given its purpose

    Soooo...

AND essentially aren't all afterlives in story, and religion, just living in another realm?? Not sure what your point is exactly?

Exactly...? Like I understand if you don't believe, but these are the very stories that surround our own reality

So what happens when you die in the realm of death? Cessation of Existence? Or is there a Death Past Death?

Frankly that's the only part of this I take issue with. Most afterlife concepts operate on the idea of "it's just living in another realm" anyway.

When you think about it, the concept of an afterlife (or heaven, whatever you want to call it) cheapens the concept of life. It's supposed to be special because it's finite. Existence should be cyclical at best, as the universe wastes nothing, but not this non-sensical afterlife where consciousness can be retained, and there are systems, rules, and even politics apparently, makes it redundant instead of special.

They said that when you are a soul and you die in the Shadowlands, your soul dies and you are wiped from existence. That's what happened to Ursoc. He's now completely erased and can't ever come back. His soul doesn't even exist anymore.

Well until they want to bring someone back for a future expansion and just retcon the whole thing.

Well that is the question? What is life? Why is life? Are we real?^^

Seriously though. Everyone always expected an afterlive in wow. Why is it different now?
Death does not work equal for everyone in wow. Some get reincarnated. Some go to the maw. Some go on to serve the Shadowlands itself. Uther, Draka for example.

And if your soul gets erased there you aparantly turn into anima. Game over. Your essence will be used for a new soul probably. No reincarantion. No after-afterlive

This is basically what like 70% of the population of the real world believes happens in real life too. With the difference that real life religions believe everyone gets to keep their memories.

Somehow that didn't stop anyone to mourn death...what a nonsensical thread

It's not like this is a new concept from Blizzard.

Real life religion literally operate in the same way: it's just a "life" after life (and afterlife duuh).
What happens to someone that dies in heaven/eden/valhalla/whateverthefuckthereis?

    This is a fantasy.
It's not like it is a hard concept the warp your head around.
