    Ginsberg Passes Away

    Pretty dark day for democracy.

It could well be 30 years of Trump judges striking down voter rights, healthcare, worker rights.

More immediately, given that McConnell will no doubt ram through a nomination before the election, it will mean a friendly SCOTUS giving Trump a much higher chance of successfully challenging the election results should he lose.

The fact that I can't even take the time to mourn the loss of such a powerful person because of the shitshow that's about to follow is enraging me.

    As I said elsewhere....fuck.
Human progress isn't measured by industry. It's measured by the value you place on a life.

    Just, be kind.

Can't begin to fathom the strength and fortitude she had in life. While I wish she retired before 2016, you have to admire the service to her country up until her dying breath.

3 months left of Trump, let's just hope no nominee can go through the process.

Republicans are already salivating at the thought of who to ram through to replace her. Who's ready for 30 more years of Ted Cruz?

I really hope at this point dems can take back the senate and presidency together, because then they can just add a couple more justices to balance things out, if they had the balls to do so that is.

They'll ram one through in an afternoon if they have to, hell they could do it tomorrow, and you can bet it'll be someone young and insanely conservative.

But they won't even wait for the results of the election

Democrats better do everything in their power to stop any and all nominations, even if they have to filibuster til Trump loses and is escorted out in handcuffs.

Yeah, I can't really think of any way the dems could stop it, and the GOP will ram it through hell or high water.

They need that solid SCOTUS majority to give them the legal base for abolishing democracy in November and declaring Trump President for Life.

This is the long game the republicans have been playing. Trump is a passing useful idiot for them to cram through as many long-term appointments as possible.

All of you “woke progressives” and “Bernie or bust bro’s” out there that don’t think that Biden is or Hillary was “progressive” enough... THIS is what seeing your agenda set back by decades looks like.

Now, your progressive ideals that you refused to take an inch on because it wasn’t a mile may very well simply die at the Supreme Court level. For the next 20-30 years.

But don’t worry, I’m sure the candidate pushing the legislation really sticking it to those billionaires will be coming down the pipes riiiight after that. Never mind all the other stuff that will have been passed or overturned in the meantime, right? Just gotta hold out for Prince Charming.

But at the end of the day, it is of course better to light a candle than curse the darkness. Ginsberg can serve as a powerful example of leadership and moral upstanding. And a Biden presidency is the only immediate way to start turning the court around, should any other justices pass away.

Don’t be sad and despondent. That’s what the deplorable want. Be impassioned and driven to action; that’s what they fear. Ginsberg’s legacy should be one of action, not merely one of agonizing over her passing.

Biden can just increase the number of seats. There is no rule it has to 9. It's been 12 before.

I'm about 95% sure that American democracy just died today.

They will put a lunatic on the court who will rubber stamp whatever.

The GOP will torpedo the elections come November, contest it, drag it to the SCOTUS who will then hand the Presidency to Trump (keep in mind they have already done this once back in 2000 under a lot less shady circumstances).

And then the arrests for "sedition" can begin.

We are already there we are the minority in the court. Trump electing another nut job may actually force Democrats to fix our judicial system. The whole concept of lifetime appointments is crazy to me these people can't turn on their PCs by themselves deciding on technology.

You are assuming just because Biden would win the elections he would become president.

It has been, but doing so for no reason other than to politically stack the deck is a pretty clearly corrupt plan. One can argue that it's needed to counteract the corruption introduced by the Republicans, but you're opening a door that won't get closed again any time soon. The next Republican senate would just up it again to favor them, and they'd have "Well you did it" as a justification.

We need to win the presidency, win back the Senate and pack the courts.

  18. #18
And now we'll get to see how big of a hypocritical piece of shit McConnel is as he rams through Trump's nominee right before the election.

We're looking down the barrel of 30-40 years of a conservative majority courts... The Federal Court system and the Supreme court is incredibly fucked up right now.

RIP this country unless 3 republicans flip which...well RIP

Biden needs to threaten to expand the court...it's the only possible move
