They might carry a special meaning because it's the only time that you will experience something new in a naïve way.

It's the only time that you will only have expectations about something without any empirical knowledge

I still remember my first day living alone, first day at the university, first time talking to somebody in a foreign language I was learning, getting my first check as a working professional, etc etc.

You can have empirical knowledge before if you don't romanticize things like a...kid...haha.....

Yea, firsts a meaningless to me. I don't think I'll appreciate the birth of my first kid any less than the second or third. As well as any other experience.

Because 3 is still a low and relevant number.
