Stormwind City Tour After Exile's Reach

This may sound like a strange question but i'm going to ask it anyway.

I've gone through Exile's reach a few times on alliance characters. but I've clicked through the dialogue too fast a few times.

Has anyone who has done exile's reach on the alliance noticed when they are doing the stormwind tutorial, if there is away to drop out of the tutorial before the meeting at stormwind keep? or if there is a way to drop out at all (the wowhead comments claim that if you abandon the quests you can talk to captain garrik at the gate and quit out but i'm not sure)

I know on the horde side there are a couple of points before you go to Zandalar with Blightcaller to drop out but i cant remember seeing any on the alliance side.

Aye, when you first approach the gnome that'll escort you you'll have the option "I'm familiar with this city already" or something like that.

16 years and Blizzard still isn't able to program an escort quest that doesn't irritate me.

Really? I did a couple in Legion and BfA that were non-irritating. But generally if you've been playing for 16 years, you're probably going to react differently to this than someone relatively new, neh? They need it to be slow and so on because they're likely to get distracted and have to catch up with the NPC etc.

As to the OP's question, yeah you can skip it at the start (if you can't, it's your mods picking the wrong option for you), and I was able to leave it part-way through by abandoning it. I think it may have asked something like "Do you want to leave the tutorial?" as well as the usual abandon but it worked.

When you finish the Exile's Reach zone and return to Stormwind, you speak to the captain who offers you the "Stormwind tour" quest, and choose the option "I'm familiar with Stormwind city already" and you skip the whole tour.

Witcher 3 got it right: when you escort someone the NPC is leashed to you and your speed. Doesn't matter if walking or full canter on horse. NPC keeps in place if you get off the intended route but immediately snaps to you if near. NPC is always walking a bit in front of you so if you walk he'll lead you, run and you may lose her at some corner, canter if you know the way.

That sounds like a follow quest rather than an escort quest. If they're leashed to your speed you can just rush through enemies and so on.

I guess either way at least you don't have to ride down a road for literally ten+ minutes listening to cowboys chit-chat like RDR2.

yeah i know that but i guess i'm just being greedy and wanted to sneak in a little more exp and some cash before i start into chromietime. so i was wondering if there was an opt out somewhere near the end before i go to the keep for the kul'tiras meeting

well i can confirm that there's one on the horde side. you can talk to grimaxe when you get to gromash hold and quit out of the tutorial.

and the only opt out on the alliance that i could see is at the entrance to stormwind with Captain Garrick.
