Exile's Reach was a waste of dev time in its current state

Teaches players almost nothing about their class, interface menus, customizing actions bars, basic BG objectives, dungeon threat, healing or tanking, kiting, self-healing and potions, what the different city services are (AH, vendors, daily quests, travel etc...takes you to a class trainer who now do NOTHING), crafting, Chromie new leveling system and its pros/cons, partying, lfg tool, chat, whispers, logs...

If I was a new player I'd have learned almost nothing from that thing, and I would find the writing very cringy. It really does not have a Warcraft feel at all, just generic fantasy MMO setting.

    Dude what?

Really bad troll? I haven't even done it but someone told me they actually teach you about Pandemic-ing DoTs on their refresh. I bet you don't even know what that is.

See, I thought the opposite. I think its a much better tutorial than anything previously in the game. It might be enough for a few of my non-gamer friends to not be overwhelmed when they try wow out.

I disagree. Having played through it, I thought it was a refreshing start for new players, giving you an idea about the basics of the game and how the fundamental systems work. Things like "BG objectives" feels like a very niche thing to teach new players. I imagine that those things will be explored once you unlock them through your leveling. If they wanted to teach new players EVERYTHING in the game, I imagine that it would be a 30 hour long experience that would be an absolute slog to get through.

Check the number of posts, guys, and the name. Pretty sure this is cheap trolling.

They do, I was shocked and laughed because the NPC was like "Nah mate you fucked it up try again", which probably the first time that's happened in some kind of game tutorial to me in like 15+ years.

It teaches a lot about pve, so everything that actually matters. PvP is a niche thing and most players will start without having warmode enabled and they will not have it until they reach 50 (since warmode is only available at 20 as far as i know). Keeping newer players outside of pvp is the best thing that they can actually to for the health of the game.

I ran through it with some noob friends and it was pretty good. I wish it taught interrupts though.

It was actually good enough that I sort of wished it had 10-20 and 20-30 sequels to teach more in-depth skills, yeah. It definitely showed that you could it.

    Fully Agreed

In terms of mechanics, i can't comment, i generally am not the biggest fan of extremely streamlined quests (altough makes sense for new player obviously) and npc's kissing your feet right off the bat.

You start off your adventure with small tasks, not "i saved a whole squadron" stuff.
However, the "lore" or story rubs me really the wrong way.

Who are these ogres, which clan are they from? Nobody cares.
How the fuck did they manage to build a massive citadel (which virtually no Ogre clan pulled off on Azeroth) and have Necromancers that are capable of raising dragons?
Don't ask questions, just enjoy the evil trope #1 Stupid but brutal giants and #2 Evil Wizard combined.

At least previous new player experience tried to establish some relevance to the overall story of their respective race (after killing 10 Animals of course) rather than just be some random evil thing that has absolutely no relevance to some overarching story ever.

I noticed some really bad oversights when it came to explaining how spells work when I ran through it on ptr.

Are they still teaching mages fire blast is a spell you only cast at melee range?

It's a small grip but I wished they took the time to explain how to use spells properly in it.

The thing is, as someone who is a well versed wow players with experience in things such as UI tweaking, action bars, addons, etc. you will never find an introductory tutorial for new players exhaustive. And it's for good reason. That would be an overload of information. Exile's Reach is supposed to show you the basics. Something that a lot of people still keep forgetting, including the troll op who has now been banned, is that wow is no longer a raiding simulator. New players don't have to learn about:
their class, interface menus, customizing actions bars, basic BG objectives, dungeon threat, healing or tanking, kiting, self-healing and potions, what the different city services are (AH, vendors, daily quests, travel etc...takes you to a class trainer who now do NOTHING), crafting, Chromie new leveling system and its pros/cons, partying, lfg tool, chat, whispers, logs...
in the beginner's tutorial, because chances are they might never want to set foot in a dungeon or BG, but do other content instead.

He is right. You learn to move, hit, get quests, wear stuff, and put skills in your skillbar. And that's pretty much it. It's the very basic of a rpg, common to all. So it's more an initiation to rpg than to wow.
I didn't even have a notification to chose my specialisation.
So yeah kind of a miss I guess. Or not something really relevant.
It's not made for a new wow player it's made for a new gamer.

As a streamlined levelling experience it's great. As a tutorial it's also pretty great for the really basic stuff. If you want to learn about tanking, healing, interrupts etc (which are important, I agree) the proving grounds are still around (...right?), but they need better signposting.

This might be the worst post I've seen on here in a while, and that's saying something.

Exile's Reach is very good. The starting gear it provides is marvelous, there are even a headpiece and shoulders with stats on them, and even a rare ring.

Tutorials can even be turned off for experienced players in the Interface menu.

The only complaint I have is that Darkmaul Citadel is boring. It was flaunted as a mini-dungeon, but it's just two sections of Highmaul really. I half expected to see Nagrand from the terrace. Just gave off lazy vibes, but then again, I am not a new player.

Well it is an introductory dungeon, familiarizing new players with the concepts of group play with tanks, healers and the lfg-tool. it using highmaul doesn't bother me more than the cave being reused from nazmir, or the harpy and quillboar stuff being reused.
