Well according to the new role cards there isn't a form of recruitment in a normal sense, only marking from the vampire elder and then the elder would have to attempt to turn them the next night.

But yeah a quiet night makes little sense according to the cards though.

You're not marked, you would be dead otherwise. As the game only started with 2 vampires, and target that gets fed on twice on the same night dies. Meaning the elder didn't visit you.
