Once the military is involved in ultimate violence against its own people, military members start to defect because they have to protect their own families and friends against the other service men, then soldiers will shoot soldiers, and then whoever takes the upper hand will execute the members of the ruling government.

This story has been played out for millennia. Don't think it would be nothing if the military starts shooting at half the country. This is exactly how a generalized civil war starts.
