    Biden 2021 First Moves: What would you do?

    So what would be your first 3 moves as the new president in Jan 2021?

    1- Long first move, but clear out every top administrative leader and direct reports that is/are unfit but was selected by Trump starting with USPS, Education, Housing and Environmental agencies.

    2- Executive order #1, Fully bail out the post office. The implications of an underfunded USPS has been proven to be Bigly harmful to the country.
    Trump set the legal standard, time to take 15-25 billion from his re-directed funds to the "wall", other re-directions and the military (since Trump and republicans both said it was legal).

    3- Covid, mask mandate. If the CDC can force landlords not to be able to kick people out of their apartments why not a mask mandate?

    3.5 - Cancel 2021 Christmas just to make their heads pop. I know he can't do this but oh the fun
    Buh Byeeeeeeeeeeee !!

    His third move is Covid.

    reschedule marijuana
    Create a national police review commission for oversight
    reduce criminal penalties for drug possession
    End work requirements for food stamp access

    ugh just too many to name

    Measures that Biden can implement without Congress.

    Rejoin the Paris accord.

    Reverse every single one of Trump's 186 EOs.

    Reverse the Fed hiring freeze.

    Rebuild the devastated Fed government bureaucracy.

    As far as ACA is concerned here is a non-exhaustive list.

    Extend the open enrollment period back to 90 days;
    Undo many other changes in the “market stabilization” rule;
    Revise the premium adjustment percentage methodology;
    Roll back prior guidance on Section 1332 waivers;
    Eliminate the “double billing” rule for abortion services;
    Revise rules on Section 1557 and provider conscience protections;
    Address broad exemptions to the contraceptive mandate;
    Curb state options for selecting a new essential health benefits package;
    Promote access to nonprofit navigators; and
    Curb proliferation of short-term plans, and limit the sale or deceptive marketing practices of other limited benefit plans.

    Stop issuing drilling leases on Federal land.

    Tighten flaring regulations which is supported by every single oil majors. A bunch of small to medium oil companies will probably cry crocodile tears. Screw them.

    Tighten permitting and review process for new drilling, pipeline and petrochemical projects.

    Outright ban on all new offshore drilling programs in Federal water. However, exclude offshore wind farms.

    Congress never stopped funding low-interest loans for renewable energy. However, DoE under Trump's administration has been slow-walking loan issuance. Time to accelerate those.

    Cancel student loans for those that met PSLF requirement. Or just cancel Federally funded loans outright.

    Strengthen worker's right. Not sure that he can increase Fed's minimum wage without Congress.

    Cut emission and increase mileage. Easiest way is to let California implement it's EV, emission and mileage policy, and expand it's Cap and Trade program. Where California goes the rest of the country will follow.

    Yeah, this is probably primary at the moment. Stop people dying, then we can focus on other things.

    Probably a lot of symbolic stuff that has no major significance. First Worlders are bored though so we'll blow everything out of proportion anyways.

    I would spend all of my four years building a competent state after the shitshow republicans did with Trump (Including USPS)

    Also I would NOT join the Paris Climate Accord that is some weak stuff that doesnt help anybody and that the US would have overshoot its goals literally doing nothing. Instead I would spend more time and resources on proper environmental action and none of that China approved BS

    I always laugh when people applaud China, India, and Russia for saying "we will follow the Paris Climate Accord", when all they had to do was just stay the course they were already doing through 2030 since they had practically 0 guidelines they needed to follow. Meanwhile, even without the paris climate accords, the US has been reducing their climate footprint anyway. People think that "following the paris climate accords" meant everyone was following the same rules, but without it we are just dumping shit into the air with no remorse.

    Full enforcement of gun control laws

    Go after employers that hire illegal aliens

    Reclassify marijuana

    All 3 I see as foundation issues. You want to show people that gun control laws or immigration laws need work, enforce the hell out of what you have. Who knows, maybe that will make things better, but if it makes things worse you can point to that as a need for change. Addressing pot is just about raw $$$ for the state/local government.

    I'm pretty sure those relationships are going to remain fragile, due to the first quote in my signature, unless Biden takes far more radical action regarding Republicans than anyone is expecting.

    This is myopic... we were within a year of meeting regulations we set on our selfs. Something we can boast about and use to promote our technology. Before Trump withdrew, we were on a path to advertise US products and technology, through a symbolic gesture. It’s one of the fundamental issues with Trump’s foreign policy... he didn’t understand the impact of soft power on American products.

    Edit: When I was 8 in USSR... you know what I wanted a hell of a lot more than freedom... a pair of jeans...

    Each country set their own goals... think about that... we withdrew from an accord, where we set our own rules...

    Wait until 1000s of Russian bots tell you how most Canadians would prefer it... don’t a lot of you speak English? Isn’t that part of the justification Russia used to take Crimea?

    Attendez que des milliers de robots russes vous disent ce que la plupart des Canadiens préfèrent ... Vous ne parlez pas beaucoup anglais? Cela ne fait-il pas partie de la justification que la Russie a utilisée pour prendre la Crimée?
