50th Anniversary of the Exploding Whale

Classic story of PNW lore, cant believe it was 50 years ago. Cooll that they remastered the original newscast.
50-foot whale washes up dead. Locals debate what to do about the rotting carcass. Plan is hatched to blow it up to speed decomp... and then things went awry.

WATCH: The Exploding Whale, remastered for 50th anniversary of legendary Oregon event!

Well this was 50 years ago and you couldn’t exactly just uber a tugboat to come drag a coupal of tons of whale(doubt that woulda worked nicely anyway)
The sanest idea would have been to get experts to dissembled the carcass with saws on land and then transfer the pieces to sea but that takes money/time. (There are dangers to cutting open a rotting whale)
