Imagine having a president-elect who took this opportunity to make the case for why we need $2k checks or using this as an opportunity to help Democrats in the Georgia runoffs instead of this lazy bullshit

This was a speech about vaccine distribution, the explanation for why we need a stimulus was last week:

Here is him campaigning in GA the week before that:

I want him to be fighting for us as hard as Bernie Sanders is on the floor of the Senate right now.

My goodness let's hope enough people are smart enough to realize this time that vote for the R's keeps the Turtle in power.
In one of those amazing jobs of Republican projection of always campaigning say elect me to keep Pelosi or Schumer out of power. Always a tad stupid when you should be elected to legislate, but this is the Republicans we are talking about.
So yeah, the strategy should work here and maybe it is a good strategy that more Dems should have used it their Senate runs. Pelosi and Schumer are house cats. McConnell IS dangerous to our democracy.

Talking about the $2k stimulus, and tying back the Georgia runoffs to it.
So far Biden has negotiated the stimulus down to $600, and when asked about his support for the $2k stimulus all we got from him is a "yes" and that's it.
Wow, thanks Joe. Somehow he has the power as president-elect to negotiate some measly $600 checks for us, but as soon as there's a shot at $2k checks he's basically silent and everyone says "well he's not sworn in yet he's totally powerless guys".
It honestly feels like he's staying quiet because he wants to be on Mitch's good side and he feels like he can work with Republicans, which is EXACTLY what he said he would do during the primaries.
https://www.cnn.com/2019/06/04/polit...und/index.htmlFormer Vice President Joe Biden on Tuesday defended his calls for unity, answering criticism of his moderate approach from 2020 Democratic rivals by insisting bipartisan cooperation is the only way to avoid being governed by “wacko executive orders” from President Donald Trump.
“I’m not talking about going back to the past. I’m talking about avoiding a terrible future if we do not figure out how to make this work,” he said during a campaign stop in New Hampshire on Tuesday.
Biden’s predictions that Trump’s presidency will be viewed historically as an “aberration” and that the GOP will have an “epiphany” and become willing to work with Democrats once Trump leaves the Oval Office have drawn the ire of progressive activists who fear that by advocating a return to normalcy, Biden is ignoring systemic challenges that pre-date Trump.

It's already the topic dominating the news, what does him talking about it do?
Biden has had no involvement in the negotiations as he is a private citizen and not an elected representative. At least he remains that way until January 20.
You're the only person that thinks he has this power, apparently. Everyone else seems pretty clear on the powers and authority of the president-elect, which are that he doesn't actually have any of either.
Inform yourself.

That was the bill with $600 checks, instead of the bill with $2k checks progressives were pushing for.Mr. Biden on Sunday applauded the willingness of lawmakers to “reach across the aisle” and called the effort a “model for the challenging work ahead for our nation.” He was also not an idle bystander in the negotiations.
With Republican and Democratic leaders in the House and Senate far apart on how much they were willing to accept in new pandemic spending, Mr. Biden on Dec. 2 threw his support behind the $900 billion plan being pushed by the centrist group. The total was less than half of the $2 trillion that Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senator Chuck Schumer, Democrat of New York, had been insisting on.
The president-elect is just outright saying "we need to work with Republicans" and negotiating less stimulus and you're defending this shit.

https://twitter.com/SykesCharlie/sta...906034186?s=19McConnell's play -->
(1) Gives Trump what he asked for.
(2) Ensures that none of it will become law. (Can't pass senate. House is done.)
(3) Urges Trump not to let the door hit him on the way out.
Wow! This is the truth. Ha, funny that McConnell is playing Trump's stupidity by making him happy with Section 230 and voter fraud. Since Trump is a moron asking for one thing that does not have anything to do with the other.
UNLESS....
This is Trump's plan along, playing 10th dimensional chess. Boom!

You're the one forcing high standards on yourself and then getting mad when the people don't act according to those standards. It's like a guy trying to pretend to be a fan of a sports team but he acts too hard at it and everyone understands he doesn't actually care, just pretending to care.

nonconfrontational messaging and distancing ourselves from the Radical Left we can warm the hearts of the Republicans. I'm sure they will finally come around, this time. If not then surely the same tactic will work next time.

Not saying what Biden will or won't do in the future or anything like that, but I can see a good reason for his approach and rhetoric in the present. If he goes on the offensive NOW, he gives them ammunition to help drive Republican turnout even more in the special election. If he comes out like that now, he could potentially shoot himself in the foot in a way that hinders his entire administration heavily for years and gives McConnell a huge win.
With things the way they are, he has a chance of taking the Senate from Moscow Mitch at which point they can actually push for stuff. So we can't really say for sure which way that will go. Remember this is Georgia we are talking about here, so not wanting to give the Republicans any legit ammo to include with their lies.
Since we can't call out Trolls and Bad Faith posters and the Ignore function doesn't actually ignore it. Add
"mmo-champion.com##li.postbitignored"
to your ublock or adblock filter to actually ignore ignored posters. Now just need a way to ignore responses to them as well.
This is a pandemic and the American economy has crashed, while people are homeless, starving, and food bank lines are miles long.
Maybe trying to fight for more relief money to help people is the way to go to win elections. Even the Republicans in Georgia have signed onto the $2k stimulus checks, Joe Biden should be spending every minute in front of a camera hammering how we need to pass them and Mitch McConnell/Republicans controlling the Senate are standing in our way.
Instead he said "yes" he supports the $2k checks and continues to call for holding hands and singing kumbaya with Republicans. Surely this is how you win elections, by painting your opponents as just friendly colleagues who are totally fine.
