If google doesn't find anything first pass, you should then try Yandex, which tends to be worse at general image finding but much better at detecting cropped/flipped images or images that are extremely similar (like the same artist or the same 3DCG set).

If that fails, and you suspect that it's a crop or has been altered a little (like there's "placeholder" red X marks on a supposed cinematic picture) you can sometimes bruteforce it by painting out the edges to expand the picture or removing those alterations.

I'm not sure I'm 100% sold, but I'm definitely leaning towards that being legit. It ticks all the boxes.

For comparison: Zenimax has their annual expansion announcement for Elder Scrolls Online towards the end of January (it’s always a 1 hour stream plus an additional hour of community manager / fan talk) and they always announce this stream roughly three weeks prior to the actual date (it will be this Thursday, by the way). So at least one or two weeks of a prior announcement are expected.

Well it seems everyone picked apart Dragonmire fairly quickly. Finding the source images is obviously one of the best ways to debunk something if you can manage to do it. What stood out to me instantly was it being based on the Shadowlands ad leak. It's obviously not proof of being fake, but I don't see them following the same ad format again. Every expansion usually does a bit of its own thing, and even if they did reuse this ad style, the chances of that being the thing to leak twice in a row is pretty unlikely.

That said, it looks very nice. I really like the color balance and lighting on the logo. I prefer it way more than Battle for Azeroth's, that's for sure. I would like a real expansion logo that looked like this.

You mean Teriz, where he compared all of them? As he said, he’s pretty into it now too. It’s just too good. I mean sure I can be fooled by it, but something irks me about it.

Yeah, that was also my immediate "This is probably fake". Pretty unlikely to get the exact same bit of media leaked twice in a row, and also have that media designed exactly the same as last time.

    We're professionals henny!

Also, I just want to remind people that the Shadowlands leak was deemed fake by many before it was confirmed to be the real deal. So let's keep on debunking... but most of all, let's keep an open mind!

I‘m sold on that logo until Blizzard reveals the real thing or the creator of the fake logo comes out and just tells us. The only thing that bothers me (a little) is the name, the logo is very good.

Teriz is unreliable and only believes it's real because he's convinced the metalwork on the frame = titan technology which makes Tinker a decently likely feature of the supposed expansion.

More than small mistakes (which we know from BfA and Shadowlands are things that stick around in non-final versions of the logo until well after announcement), larger design approaches are probably the best indicator. I think it is almost certainly fake, because the colors used for it are very bad, and because the (tm) on the expansion title appears to have been made as part of the expansion title rather than added onto the logo, which is something someone making a fake logo would do (because they're checking off boxes of what needs to be on it) but is not something likely to happen for the people actually designing the logo, who are more concerned with the logo itself looking good and can toss in a TM at the end.

I also still standby the fact that EoD does not have any proper noun in it, and is instead a generalized concept name.

One thing I like about Empire of Dragons is that more work went into it than usual.

I went over all of the old fake logos from past expansion cycles that I could find and Empire of Dragons stands out from them. Almost every single old fake logo just used the normal border. Every once and awhile they'd place something on top of it like Mists of Pandaria or Warlords of Draenor, but that's it. A couple of later ones used Legion's border, but I'm not sure they realized that Legion changed the border, because it's sort of a giveaway (though mostly in hindsight when we know they didn't keep using that border).

A couple of them put a little more effort into it by painting on some extra designs, but you didn't even really need to compare them to realize they had just extended parts of the existing design. There was only one I found that appeared to be an entirely unique border, but upon closer inspection I realized it was painted on top of the Legion border (I think it was the Legion one), and it was a pretty sloppy paint job too, they just tried to hide by combining terrible image quality with a high resolution to pretend the image quality wasn't low.

Empire of Dragons is, as far as I can tell, an entirely original border, which had to have taken a lot of work. However, it still evokes the existing designs like the scroll loops on either side of the expansion name and the notches in the blades lining up with the traditional "teeth." While it doesn't have the rendered look of Shadowlands or Battle for Azeroth, it's also not smudgy like the other one I mentioned.

No, I believe the metalwork=titan technology because it's the only theme that matches the logo. Old Gods, Titans, and Dragons all intersect with each other on multiple levels of lore. If we're doing an expansion where Azeroth is weakened from the jailer, we have a draconic empire, and we have Old Gods, Titan stuff rolls right into all of that.

If that justifies a technology-based class, so be it. However, like I've asked multiple times; If someone can come up with an all-encompassing theme that matches up with dragons and the old gods as well as titan tech does, I'm all ears.

Yeah, I agree with this. It even goes along with the evolution of WoW's logos since Legion. Also while many people dislike the name Empire of Dragons, it sounds like a WoW expansion to me.

I definitely tried to lean into the Shadowlands leak layout, almost to make it obvious, despite other aspects hopefully not looking as blatantly fake. They're lined up near 1:1 wording aside.

Could have been fun to see people going all bananas over another fake like EoD had I just put this out somewhere quietly lol:

Still then, kudos to those who found the frame's origins. That's from 2014! I hope the creator was hired, and I suspect they were. Legion's logo is almost the same sculpt.

Tbh, while the color is not very draconic is gives the logo a very pleasing look.

I made some alternatives with a more reddish background, but none look as good or at least not to me: https://imgur.com/a/owX3OoM
