I've spent years espousing Dark Rangers and how they could work and fit in WoW only to be constantly dismissed, mocked, and bullied for as long. I have sympathy for every decent tinker fan out there if this reply dismisses it as the next class. I know well what this feels like and wouldn't wish it on these people. I also feel bad for them being associated with the small obnoxious group of people. Honestly, I would jump to conclusions either way.

Do those games have 12 classes?

For some reason, I have the feeling that if dragons are revisited, we’re going to be seeing metallic dragonflights. Maybe the existing dragonflights are even transformed into them to get that needed revitalization.

Less likely: Perhaps Elune is the Aspect of one of these flights. Obviously a few cosmology notches above those we know.

Looking at their site, FFXIV's got 20 at the least, though it doesn't seem to include "base" classes (i.e. Lancer). Include those and 27, maybe 28?

Or it’s utterly devoid of meaning and the guy is just having a little fun?

Eh it loses it for me with the weird way they're doing a revamp.

There was a leak I liked but I forgot where it was because I'm assuming everything is fake until we're given a date for the reveal.

I will say for XIV you should compare their "Jobs" to WoW's "Specs."

As they don't have the kind of customization WoW classes have.

Not familiar with FFXIV but do they have specs too? Because WoW basically has 36 specs to balance.

True. Different setup here, to be sure. And you can switch between them all as I understand, right?

You’d never include the base classes or Blue Mage, which is more akin to pet battles.

FFXIV doesn’t have nearly as much on their plate, class-wise. That’s why they can add two or three more every expansion.

Ngl mixing Galakrond with Galapagos is a pretty brilliant idea and I like the leak, Tinker seems like a weird fit for that expansion but I kinda hope it's real.

Considering someone was just talking about how they hoped that the Dragon Isles would be like the Galápagos Islands awhile back, this was clearly written by that person or someone who liked the idea.

That's a shame then. The believability of that leak could have substantially increased if they swapped Tinker with Dragonsworn or something similar.

Yep. Unified theme for the heavy hitting features. You don’t open a steakhouse and dedicate half the menu to vegan options. This is marketing 101 - something that Blizzard, for all their faults, are excellent and consistent at.

I don't think they would use such an awkward portmanteau as the name, even if it was intended to be galapagos-based, especially when the name is part of the expansion's title.

Or that the technology class isn't called Tinker, but something like Mechanic, Inventor, Technician, Mechanist, Gadgeteer, etc. Similar to what happened with the Brewmaster and the Monk class.

Yeah, imagine getting a new zone revamped with story content every 3 months. And still getting them after the final major patch of an expansion.

I think the idea would be to have a small team of maybe 20 devs working on it for the next 4 or 5 years until they finish every zone. The rest of the team could do the regular patch stuff. Imagine Legion patch cadence, but every .5 zone had a new minor zone to go with it.

But it also had the best down to earth world content post-Vanilla in the content it enabled which is what I hope that a hypothetical Dragon Isles expanson will be. Dragons as a backdrop to focusing on Azeroth and the individual races and political factions, relegated to their main story ghetto.

Ashes, which looks fake, seems to fit that latter mold, which is good. The real thing should go the same direction. Hopefully with better raids since Cataclysm was a raiding wasteland besides Firelands, which is overrated.
I think tier 11 and 12 were all great. Dragon Soul wasn't terrible, just a little lazy and lasted too long. Cata had great raids and dungeons.

    Why would Anduin raise Galakrond?

Pandaria. Shadowlands. Most people done read quests and probably had no idea about either of these places.

First of all because Galakaros is lazy enough AND smart enough to be a real WoW name, as Blizzard has a history of copy-pasting real-life culture and places, in this case the Galapagos, giving it the WoW twist and linking it to Galakrond.
Second of all, the living world being a vast cross-expansion plan to make the world evergreen is also one of the best things that could happen to Wow at this point, recreating the "world" of warcraft, while still developing expansions which take place somewhere else than the old world.

I hope we get some fresh news next week!
Yep its my favorite "leak" yet. Probably too good to be true.
