During wod we were never cut off from Azeroth, we just stepped into a portal and got back as per usual.
When we set up the garrison Khadgar even casually opens a portal for our troops right in front of us.
Somewhere between the end of HFC and Legion/BfA the connection between the MU and AU closed, so in-universe we can't go back.
Though that happened off-screen and we only found out when it got mentioned in the Mag'har recruitment questline.

Question for the World Revamp crowd: Do you want a full world revamp? Partial world revamp (targeted)? Or a mixture (similar to Cataclysm) where we get new zones AND some older ones revamped?
This could be really cool. Would love to see some older zones revamped, in addition to some new zones. Then, in future patches (same expansion 10.0), they could revamp more zones as part of the "content" in those patches.

You want one full continent to be revamped? (Example: ONLY Northrend or ONLY EK/Kalimdor)
Honestly I'm fine if they go fairly targetted as far as the World itself is concerned.
Just HD-ify areas that still make sense to look like they do, remove some fire effects and tornados that no longer make sense. Then totally revamp areas that we know have changed drastically (most notably this would be the areas BFA fucked up).
Questline-wise I think they need to rip out most of it because they tied the Cata stories way too deeply into the HvA war of that era (which escalated, ended, restarted, and ended again since) and circa 2010 pop culture references that either aren't relevant anymore at best or at worst have aged poorly in our more.... culturally sensitive era of today.

If they made Pelegos the new Arbiter they should have given other Soulbinds such reverence. Make Marileth the leader of the forsaken you cowards.
I think it's safe to say Galakaros leak is fake now.
Considering the connection between Northrend and the Shadowlands, I could totally see us leaving and coming back to a revamped Northrend. Additionally, it is the oldest continent on Azeroth in terms of exploring in-game (since Outland is not on Azeroth although it would be technically older). Aren't the scourge supposed to be running rampant anyway since the helm was destroyed?
Regardless, I hope 10.0 is something that makes me not only excited but also want to watch and rewatch the cinematic/features trailer over and over again until it launches.
Sometimes, the light of the moon is a key to other spaces. I've found a place where, for a night or two, the streets curve in unfamiliar ways. If I walk here, I might find insight, or I might be touched by madness.

Pretty much, yes.
EK or Kalimdor especially are probably better as two separate instances of world revamp if the idea is to have an entire full continent, and also ensure everything gets used to its full potential.
EK for instance is perfect in this regard since you have several zones with roughly similar theme, like the Forsaken themed zones, Dwarf themed zones, Human themed zones, etc.
This means you can have a more fitting number of reputations and storylines that encompass multiple zones, and still have a few zones left over for more niche stuff like Pirates, Demons, and Trolls.
The downside is obviously that if Blizzard wants to make a new dedicated 10-50 levelling area to go alongside Exiles reach as the 1-10 tutorial then you would not be able to give all races the fitting amount of presence which a dedicated levelling area should.
It would be difficult to organically teach players about Forsaken if you sent new players to level in Kalimdor for instance. In this case you would need both EK and Kalimdor to be updates to allow for all vase playable races to get a fair shake.

I never put two and two together when I was doing the Kyrian campaign. I figured that had happened in the past during Arthas' reign. However, I guess it makes sense that it occurred in our timeline since we traveled back to Redridge with the Kyrian and found out about Oribos, the Maw, and the souls all in real time.
Outland even technically has a "revamp" already with WoD. It didn't further the plot there, but it was very deliberately giving us something similar to Outland to satiate those who miss it.
Northrend has only been visited once in dedicated levelling. I would be very happy with a revamp there.
