Which is crystallized Titan blood, and greatly enhances the power of machines.
There’s also these;
Which are companion items that showed up at the very end of BFA and in 9.1 respectively. The lore attached to these items were… interesting.
I can agree that something purely draconic would fit a purely draconic expansion, but the point is that you are going by the assumption that the expansion is purely draconic instead of dragons being an introductory element to the story alongside something more void themed, which I might remind you is a perfectly fitting plot to go alongside dragons.
Would you have been confused if the BfA logo was old god themed if old gods was an even heavier element than it was? Or would you have preferred Legion if the logo was more elf themed to go alongside all the Nelf ruins and Suramar in the core and first two major patches?
You are making the preemptive assumption that the purple logo isn't a fit for the expansion despite it literally having nothing to firmly go on besides the name being about dragons.
What if the Dragon Isles are in the Old God realm? Or in space. What if the plot is heavily leaning on the Dragons struggle to be rid of the void, or as someone discussed before, a dragonflight whose main colour scheme in both appearance and architecture fits the logo?
Maybe they wanted to go with a more draconic logo, but the ones they workshopped were too tacky, or ugly, or clashed with other expansion logos?
Maybe they literally sat there and thought that purple is an expansion logo theme that hasn't been done, and it would look really cool with a starry backdrop to hint at the greater story with dragons?
The void is a heavy theme with the Twilight, Infinite, Void, and Black Dragonflight. It's not a massive leap to assume that it might have a strong presence in a dragon themed expansion, and that a purple and starry themed logo would fit decently well in addition to looking really good.
The world revamp dream will never die!
I don't think the random mech dragons are actual clues for the dragon expansion. If you want clues, you simply have to dig into 9.2 where there's for no reason a draconic line in Zereth Mortis.
As for the idea of the announcement, it's because Blizzconline was scheduled for febuary. But it is pretty clear that the next expansion won't be shown before Zereth Mortis' epilogue.
Dang man, did you just miss our entire conversation? The lore behind those dragons is that Vexonia was using Nzoth as a giant super void corruption nursery for her brood. Wrathion uncorrupted one of them, but there’s bound to be more out there.
Also that’s a new model from BFA. The original twilight drakes don’t look like that. Those are the voidwings, which are void twisted like their mother Vexonia.
The next expansion was set to be announced in two days at the cancelled Blizzconline, and since the last one seemed suspiciously prerecorded it could really be at any time.
Probably not until after Mythic has opened though. No point in announcing something right in the middle of the busy new patch timeslot. And Blizzard could probably gain some extra time by announcing it right as the expansion is officially "done".
The world revamp dream will never die!
Really it's those kinds of patches we miss out on the most with actual expansions.
No chance of a patch between BfA and SL where we are told to go to Desolace to complete a centaur raid, or to Booty Bay to stop a Pirate invasion.
A lower stakes expansion with only lore "offcuts" so to speak would be great for just re-establishing lore slowly.
The world revamp dream will never die!
Problem of expansion, I guess. Unless we don’t have a revamp or an expansion that’s solely dedicated towards the Azeroth we know this won’t happen. The game really needs a breather and because we don’t get WoW 2 we should really get something that’s just updating recent stories instead of introducing new ones.
Make Alliance Great Again
Because they've been around since vanilla, they take two existing design without actually bringing something new and since Mechagon was around when the mech dragon mount was around, they don't seem out of place. Unless there's a tinker class with dragon island, I would not consider them as clue.
