That the possibility for a pattern to be broken exists does not mean that there's no pattern.

Every expansion in the game has added new zones. That is a pattern. It's entirely possible that they "could do it differently" and release an expansion without new zones, but that doesn't make it not a very strong pattern and pretty likely that 10.0 will have new zones.


Pretty terrible strawman. No one is claiming a pattern based on the impossibility of an extremely basic function word.

Just an example, but I recall seeing people in the leadup to BfA saying how it didn't sound like an expansion, it didn't match the pattern of expansions before it, and yet here we are with BfA as the previous expansion.

If you want to be so sure, by all means. I just think it wise to be open to anything beyond obvious fakes and grammar/spelling issues. Feel free to poke me if the next expansion's name sticks to the seeming pattern, but also be prepared to eat crow if the reverse.

I've seen a pattern (heh) of people saying a supposed name doesn't fit a pattern, and then shocker, its the expansion after all!

No they don't need three specs to feel complete. Please, don't fixate on number and don't go for a "pattern" explanation here.

It's not about a pattern, it's about DH players constantly asking for a third spec. Also yeah, the DH definitely feels incomplete, and that probably explains its declining popularity.

Hard to really attribute it to anything though. The next expansion will be announced at some point this year, and it usually drops with merch, and we can expect more OW2 and D4 merch as those get farther along.

Might be worth someone with web experience poking around. It wouldn't be the first time they screwed up and left unreleased assets exposed.

Oh, no. I’m not trying to correlate this with an imminent announcement. I simply find the timing interesting (5 days before 9.2 as well as the week we could have had Blizzconline if it followed the same timeline as 2021 and wasn’t cancelled).

He’s right though. Demon Hunter from the start felt lackluster. And a third spec could have been easily, easily developed.

Those two don't really have a connection, though. Demon Hunter suffers more from being overly simplistic class design. A third spec of that would hardly have helped.

Yeeee, I am not a WoW dev, so I do not make claims on how simple is creating (and maintaining) a third spec for a class.

Demon Hunter doesn't feel lackluster because it doesn't have a third spec, it feels lackluster because it has a super simplistic rotation and lacks interesting rotational mechanics, operating on basically watered down rage. If they had done a better job of making its movement gimmick feel rewarding instead of awkward (momentum/rush) or automated (blade dance) it would be a much stronger feeling class. Or if they had actually given it some new and unique resource mechanic like a more active fury management trying to stay close to but not go over the edge of demonic power.

I have never had any interest, at all, in Holy(pr), so the class essentially has always had two specs for me, but it has never felt lackluster because disc and shadow are both engaging.

Is the merge always immediate? Completely arbitrary and vague recollection: but it seems to me like that's usually a thing that happens at prepatch, isn't it? Because otherwise you have an entire year where the expansion is just free with the sub cost.
