No, we may get an official blue post with a date and then 1-2 weeks later get the reveal.

They are not gonna set up a whole live stream just to announce a date and we are absolutely not getting the reveal 2-3 days after the cinematic launches with no build up.

As long as the ongoing war has no direct impact on the USA (which so far is the case, despite NATO being ready for anything and the fact that the whole situationcould blow up in a matter of days) business will continue as usual.
Please don't take this as me being cynical, what's happening in Ukraine is truly awful and breaks my heart (even more so speaking as a European), I just do not think it will have any impact on digital businesses.

I really think we'll have an announcement in March, early April at the very earliest. I may be wrong, but we've always had the new expansion announced before last patch, so... now that the patch is out, I really believe they're only waiting for the last cinematic before they reveal anything.

What does WoW have to do with the things going on in Eastern Europe? Doesn't affect Blizzard at all or any business operating in/from the USA.

There’s always a war or conflict somewhere. Delaying entertainment products because of that makes no sense and serves no purpose.

Because that was always due to their release schedule of a) expansions and b) Blizzcons. Both is not the case in the recent situation, which already breaks the pattern.

    ____

As Arafal said, an expansion announcement needs a proper pre-announcement if it’s not done on a major gaming event. And this already means it won’t happen directly after the Jailer is available because for that to happen they most likely would have already had the pre-announcement.

So make it: 1. Jailer is available - 2. Shortly after the pre-announcement - 3. One or two weeks later the announcement. So towards the end of March, at best.

True, and that might be the sign of a change in future announcements as well! We'll see I guess, we'll see!

10.0 is not coming out until summer 2023 at the earliest so there’s no point in rushing. My guess is we won’t hear anything until a good while after 9.2.5.

If we had a normal BlizzCon schedule, 10.0 would have been announced in October-November.
If BlizzCon online held it's date, we would have had 10.0 announced last week.

    This is getting ridiculous.

The last 3 years have been absolutely ridiculous.

This is just another thing to add to the pile.

No, it wont be a reason. It does not directly or indirectly affect WoW development like pandemic did.
Sometimes, the light of the moon is a key to other spaces. I've found a place where, for a night or two, the streets curve in unfamiliar ways. If I walk here, I might find insight, or I might be touched by madness.

Why would you think there is no buildup? Blue post on March 4-5 and livestream on 10-11. That's how they usually do it.

Why is that a reason to delay anything? I think there was a massive war going on for quite a few years (Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan) and I don't recall any of that making Blizzard delay anything.

For patches. Not for expansions. And I doubt it’s the same.

Yeah just take Syria or Libya for example, where the US was directly involved. And it didn’t change anything. Why would this very limited regional conflict (sorry, but that’s it, even if it sounds cynical) have any impact or should have any importance to the production or release of entertainment products (as long as there is no Ukrainian involvement, which I highly doubt there is)?

It is actually a far more impactful war than those in the Middle East. Europe being dragged further into war is the most likely impetus for a new World War, especially seeing as it comprises most of NATO, which the US is a part of, and therefore obligated to protect if Putin escalates the conflict, which he has technically already down by threatening to use nukes.

But yes, it will probably not change much of anything in the short term. The conflict isn't widespread enough to affect the US much at all, much less the entertainment sector.

It's a regional conflict sure, but it's also one that might change Europe massively. Russia in particular.

Why a blue post 2 weeks in advance? What do you base that number on? As far as I remember for patch announcements it's been a few days before the stream.

Based on observing the history of Blizzard announcements & development, which is better than nothing, which is what your prediction is based on.

Did you really reply to the exact same post twice?

    To answer your questions:

You made it sound like they would 'just' reveal it without an announcement beforehand.

Either way, immediately the few days after the cinematic comes out is too soon.
Since Blizzard is waiting for the story to end first, its safe to say they want to give people more than just 2 days time to catch up on and digest it.

    I said 1-2 weeks.
Which is pretty standard for bigger announcements, or even longer.

Also, this isn't a patch its an expansion - The thing that fills up Blizzards pockets.
They have to make a notice beforehand so they gain media traction and player attention for more engagement.
Blizzard can't just randomly pop up a reveal stream whenever.

We're talking about Russia here. America's great foe. Prepare for a cold war, WoW faction-style
