I have no doubt that this virtuous and noble thread was advocating for Patch 9.1 to be pushed to the Fall or Winter of 2021, so as not to make it coincide with the terrible war in Israel-Palestine.
Right...????
Yeah, sure, the announcement of the two new Pokémon mainline games was completely unnoticed in Europe and was overshadowed by the conflict... which in fact it was not, but nevermind. Video games are not politics and politics don't overshadow video gaming news. It's as easy as that.

MAGA - Make Alliance Great Again
I gotta agree. The notion that the gaming world wouldn't notice the announcement of a new WoW expansion because Blizzard didn't tell people first is kind of silly. If Blizzard put up a video on Youtube announcing the next expansion out the blue, every major gaming media source, streamer and forum including MMOC would have the article up almost instantly.
And no, a war in Ukraine isn't going to stop this train either.
Then add the millions and millions and millions of views that gaming outlets, content creators and streamers made since yesterday with the exact same topic... but all of them are for sure from US and Asia, right? Or just Asia, because US is also busy with this conflict?
I'm done arguing over this, it's just derailing the thread, sorry. Back to speculation (and I hope there is something to speculate on rather sooner than later).

MAGA - Make Alliance Great Again
This is getting extremely off topic, but it's a bit telling that people are looking at this conflict as something unprecedented and world changing when not only have there been (eerily) similar situations happening all over the world every few months for the past couple of decades, but Ukraine specifically has already been a battlefield for several years.
What's happening there isn't any less tragic or alarming, but the idea that the western world should stop everything because this is going on now is naïve/disinformed at best, hypocritical/xenophobic at worst.
No, there weren't. When was the last time a sovereign country was attacked by an outside force that's able to wipe out the whole earth with nukes? Internal conflicts, even if other countries involved, are not the same thing as the 2nd biggest millitary force attacking Ukraine.
I agree that war shouldn't block Blizzard from announcing their games tho, but the situation is unprecedented since WWII
Literally a 5 seconds google search:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_in...%E2%80%932021)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraq_War
These two wars were taking place while people were enjoying and having fun in WoW, stop virtue-signaling, while you were enjoying TBC, WotLK, Cataclysm, whatever, there were wars going on in the world. The world isn't just Europe.
These situations are not even comparable with the conflict rn. WW3 can be easily started by this conflict, the war in Iraq of Afghanistan was always local. I!m not saying this is the only war that's ever happened, but its consequences could be much worse than a war in Iraq.
Also, I basically agreed with your statement in my 2nd paragraph, reading issues?
No actually the matter is very simple, there's no reason not to reveal the next expansion in March. Pokemon also revealed their new game just yesterday and it already got 2.2M views in 21 hours, which is ground-breaking.
And Yes btw I fully expect the next expansion to be revealed in March, for two reasons:
1) It's about time they revealed it (if they did like last year and put a BlizzCon Online in February, it would have been revealed already);
-and-
2) Once the cinematic for the Janitor comes out and the Sylvanas novel comes out, there will be nothing left to spoil/hide. So what are we waiting for exactly?
This argument shouldn't have been made in the first place, because Pokemon revealed their next game yesterday. Very clearly the gaming world goes on even in time of war.
Tell me you don't understand world geopolitics without saying you don't understand world geopolitics.
We're not going to have a nuclear war. Realistically, this will be another cold war, including a sequence of proxy wars in smaller countries. If there is any active conflict between NATO and Russia, it will be like it was in Korea between America and China in that it will be limited in scope to a single region. It actually permits both countries to fight directly without risking global thermonuclear war, and this will continue to be the trajectory of things.
I'm thinking Syria and Taiwan will be next, most likely. Either Russia will fight a NATO-backed Ukraine, or NATO's engagement will be limited only to Ukraine. Even a lunatic like Putin knows that he can only survive if he doesn't stage an invasion, and that's the theory of mutually-assured destruction.
This has less to do with the actual arguments of whether it can/should be announced and more to do with the sheer withdrawal being experienced making everyone irritable.
It's unimportant. They'll do what they will regardless of what we in a hype thread feel they should. Hopefully they're smarter to do it sooner rather than later.
Player housing is something else entirely than pet battles. Player housing would be a large feature that is connected with other forms of gameplay naturally. Pet Battles is completely separate. I could be a seperate mobile game. Yes we need other shit to break up the same gearing>beat better boss. But they should refrain putting so much resources into a minigame. It should have been an expansion specific feature contained to pandaria and never have been a staple like raids and dungeons are. +20 keys require no extra effort from the devs. It is the same in function as a +12. I hopefully don't need to explain the importance of mythic raiding eventhough it is only done by a small % of the player base.
I will not reply to posts that are non-constructive or contain flaming and/or trolling.
Can we please move the Ukraine discussion to gen-ot?
