Definitely way too late. I think the lack of Blizzcon is throwing everything off. We had a definite day set way in advance before, now we are just shooting in the dark.

For me though, it's like once leak season goes from being exciting to being repetitive and boring, and everyone is sick of reading leaks, you have waited too long to announce. Excitement turns into impatience and annoyance, which isn't a good place to announce a product in.

It's not like that's a hard train to shift though. As soon as they announce an event to reveal 10.0, that impatience & annoyance will turn back into hype. Plus if they reveal some sort of pre-order bonus or have something else cool to show in 9.2.5, that will build the hype just that much more.

Hype isn't exactly a finite resource. It absolutely ebbs & flows, and a good reveal will bring on more than enough hype to help bring excitement to 10.0.

The good news: All of the speculation regarding an announcement/announcement of an announcement before the Jailer cinematic goes live is now NULL. Furthermore, we are just 4 days away from the Jailer fight/cinematic (and any other cinematics that may come out).

Personally, even with the Anduin cinematic being the longer one, I am still excited to: 1). See the final 3 bosses of the raid (since they are unknown in terms of video evidence). 2). See what is said/happens during the RP of the 3 fights as well as any/all cinematics. 3). If Blizzard did, in fact, want to wait for the Jailer fight to go live before making any announcements regarding 10.0 (as was also hinted in an interview with Ion), we are getting close. Whether an announcement happens in the next couple weeks (before end of March) or even in April, I am ready!

To your point, and I have said this before, I was super excited for Shadowlands when they premiered the cinematic. However, once they premiered the features trailer (shortly after), my HYPE went down quite a bit (not entirely). I really want a sweet cinematic and trailer this time around for 10.0.

yeaaah the SL features trailer was lame as hell. I just want to see "NEW HERO CLASS" in big-ass letters, the hype during the legion announcement and watching chat+twitter blow up with each cool feature getting revealed was huge.

To be fair, the Shadowlands announcement was very bad. The just left out half of the stuff. Legendaries, all the intricacies for Covenants etc. - all was left out. The feature trailer for Shadowlands was just very poorly done and we ended up getting way more.

It's important to remember that everyone got very excited once the panels explained the new customizations and other QOL changes too.

People turn around pretty quick with the right distraction. But it would be nice to get a sizzle reel on the same level as Legion, Cata, or Wrath. People forget just how all time high the hype was for the sheer flood of features Cata had even if it didn't turn out how many wanted.

My personal guess to the accuracy of one of the "leaks" has me feeling like this one will be fairly modest, though, if I'm right. I don't want it, but I 100% back EoD and its two cosigners. It screams safe Blizzard.

But SL proves they can work on their presentation a bit more. They undersold a lot of what was there in terms of features and the Jailer's silhouette unintentionally invoking Arthas or Terenas and the general vagueness of the narration didn't help.

I guess "Craft your own Legendary" would have worked as hype point but in the end, Shadowlands Legendaries are just another boring iteration of the same stuff we had in Legion. They really need to up their game next Expansion in that regard. The Sylvanas Bow and other Cantrip Weapons are the step in the right direction though.

You really think they're going to make hero classes ever again after removing the things that differentiated them from other classes? DK & DH requirements & higher level were basically removed, making them indistinguishable to new players as any different from the base classes.

I hate how f*cked up this map is. Center the maelstorm in the middle and place everything accordingly around. This way it just looks super messy.

Natural geography should never look "centered" or "neat." That's would immediately make it feel unrealistic.

There's nothing "natural" about a fictional map". The maelstorm is the center of Azeroth (at least it was for several years) and worked perfectly as that. They should further build on that and not the map they have now. It's horrible.

Yeah they should totally stop adding new continents & set the next expansion in an existing place. I agree.

Also the maelstrom was only the exact center of the Azeroth map between 2002 & 2003. Kalimdor was not part of the map before Warcraft 3 & then they added Northrend, making the Maelstrom below center.

Uhm that's not what I said. But if you place the maelstorm in the middle and scale the map accordingly you can fit everything conveniently right on that map, even new continents. Easily.

Which is fine, but it shouldn't be "balanced" with continents intentionally placed in all empty areas, which was the point of my post.

Again, that's not what I suggested. I said place the maelstorm in the middle. And everything else around it accordingly. Even with the maelstorm in the middle you wouldn't change the "real" positions, it would just be a way more balanced and better looking map.

Eh I'm pretty content as-is. I'm likely to keep playing already. I guess any sort of mount system, like more customization or equipment, achievements, upgrades/updates to collections systems in general.
