Huh? Why was this not part of the campaign then? Weird. Nvm then, their ingame interface made it seem like we were done until 9.2.5.
You are welcome, Metzen. I hope you won't fuck up my underground expansion idea.

Yeah, a Necromancer would have been fantastic, as much as I personally dislike the concept in WoW (they're generally mooks that are superceded by Liches, Warlocks and Death Knights). It would have been something. For the past decade or so, I've been judging expansions not on the content they bring to their own lifespan, but by the content they introduce that will still be relevant when the next X.0 patch hits. I didn't see anything in Shadowlands that had potential to carry over when its time was over.

Given the prominence of Sylvanas throughout that expansion, Dark Ranger would have made the most sense. Them not bringing out DRs, and giving Sylvanas' bow and quiver exclusively to Hunters was very surprising, and perhaps an indication of their general view of the class.

Honestly that's the only thing Shadowlands really did well - give us stuff to farm even once it's over. You may dislike the setting but they gave us lots of mounts, pets and transmog that will stay with us forever.

So has literally every expansion, though. What features did it add? What new avenues of gameplay did it provide?

Yeah, I know. They put out a Dev post regarding the Epilogue: Judgement Chapter releasing next Tuesday (same day as Sylvanas novel).

Ah okay, in my fever induced stupor I have thrown all news recently into the current season 4 announcement and PTR update.

Then again the other 3 covenant utilities would be kinda crappy in comparison when there is no power involved.
I imagine they'll be like the Heart, work up to Shadowlands but not after. Don't underestimate their impact, though. Both Night Fae and Venthyr can let you cheese mechanics by porting through them, while Kyrian and Necrolord let you survive hits you otherwise wouldn't.

I fully expect there to be something they claim is totally not borrowed power but functionally might as well be despite their assurances.

Yeah lol, even BfA had more cosmetic options than Shadowlands when you consider allied races, their mounts, and heritage armour.

True, but even then... what did BfA add, going forward? Previous entries played with raiding difficulties, introduced systems like glyphs, revamped ongoing systems like talents, added classes, added professions, introduced new modes like Keystone dungeons - all very significant features that would continue on into the foreseeable future once introduced. BfA and SL had nothing comparable. More reputations, a couple glorified reputations, more mounts, more armour, more toys and so on... none of is "bad," but it's all entirely standard. Status quo. No novelty or ambition or staying power.

I actually enjoyed the gauntlet and endless mode of Torghast. The problem was the "you need to do this shit twice each week"-mode.

Yeah, I really don't mind Torghast and I think the basic idea of it is really good, it just sucks when it becomes a chore you have to do for player power rather than something you do for fun/cosmetics. Loved doing gauntlet when that came out, hated having to farm torghast for cinders so I could craft a legendary I wanted this week.

And even in a best case scenario where Torghast was widely beloved and universally praised... they'd still toss it out at the end of the expansion. Maybe they'd bring it back for Timewalking or whatever during a content lull, but it remains that their original intent is that it is a Shadowlands-specific feature with no bearing on future content. It isn't something that comes with us an evolves in the same way as classes or talents or professions or dungeon/raid modes.

But that's also the case with Island Expeditions, Warfronts and Visions and even worse with MoP/WoD CM Dungeons and Legion Artifacts as that content literally is no longer available. Btw I agree that we need more evergreen content with some expansion exclusive content sprinkled on top. Player Housing f.e. would be perfect for 10.0.

People making Rick cosplay Tinkers with belf blue hair.

You are completely out of touch with what can and can't be a success just because the two quintessential tinker races are underplayed.

MAYBE, they're underplayed BECAUSE there isn't a tinker option. You ever think about that?

Of course you didnt since you just blindly hate on Tinkers.
Just gonna throw out here that the only reason I haven't made a mecha gnome yet is because I can't be a tinker yet and my intended second goblin alt is also waiting in the wings to be rolled as a tinker the moment they are available.

in 2022 wow isnt longer the only choice, so there are plenty of games better on that aspect, and people will migrate there
