Dragonspawn would be interesting, but I think Drakonids can be finagled into something playable pretty easily. Not to mention they could simply go full bore and give us flat out playable dragons.

I didn't even realize but Dragonkin will be even harder than Naga to figure out how they mount. Dragons themselves wouldn't be able to wear armor outside of a vanity appearance form, unless the idea is like that one fake leak where the whole "Dragon" race is just every other race but with tattoos and horns in a disguise form (which I would hate) who turn into a dragon only for mount form.

Personally I am still holding out hope for an Ankoan AR. My disappointment was immeasurable when we got trashgnomes instead of amazing samurai fish.

If they wanted to innovate and do something really cool, they could've made dryads/keepers for the Alliance and the centaur for the Horde. New types of armor, specific classes and a pre-requisite to create one.

My hopes and wants for next expac are anything on Azeroth proper, that isn’t Dragon Isles, tinker or drakonid related because good lord it sounds stupid

TBH I agree about Sethrak and further developing their lore. Also they seemed to be more numerous than Vulpera and IMO better lore. Honestly I would've loved them being batched together with Tortollan and released as 2 neutral AR.

But something I don't like with the addition of AR is how now every new race that we get (which doesn't even need to have a hint of the NPCs made with a character customization menu) is the NEXT AR.

I don't want the covenants to become races, doesn't make sense and besides par Venthyr off the top of my head most are bland.
Blue humans? (you know we would get the non winged version)
Skeletons or Bulky Undead for Mal?
What would even be the one for NF? The one resembling Satyr? IMO just Satyr would be better.

I would rather have us get stuff like the Stewards if anything SL should become (which I don't think they should) since they do seem different to current races.
I don't want SL AR either, tbf I'd drop AR altogether and go back to regular races if possible

The problem is a lot of beloved races are technically ARs as they reuse existing racial rigs. Forbidding Jinyu from being a race because they use Nelf animations would be a crime, for example, as are Mogu with Draenei animations. Same as Taunka with Tauren.

The way to get around that would be to do what they did with Zandalari where they give them new animations over the Nelf animations they used to have.

It would be an interesting discussion to separate the NPC races that use existing animations and hte ones that don't. Dragonkin, Gnolls, Ogres and Centaurs all come to mind for the unique ones.

This would be cool however... the whole mounts system, especially flying ones, would be complicated to set up!

Ah, sorry for the confusion within my message: I'm all for reusing rigs (and also having new ones), but I'm not super keen on the current AR system because of the attached requirements and lesser customisation choices they had at first. I don't mind Blizzard reusing animations and skeletons, but I'd rather have the new races be treated like pandaren, worgen, goblin, BE and draenei were

I dig the idea from the EoA "leak" of a dragon who can be any singular playable race maybe with extra scales, dragon flight form etc.

If they introduce a Drakonid race, I hope they do a re-model of these:

Honestly a big reason I'm hoping 10.0 is Dragon associated is I want all those old models updated. While doing the Anniversary world dragons it's very pronounced how old their models are.

I feel like there's a lot of evidence that Blizzard is working on more character customization, be it in the form of allied races/subraces or just more customization for existing races. No pointers to which of the two, though.

There are some pretty big ID jumps in the character customization database tables that imply there's likely a lot of customization not currently released that was worked on before/at the same time as the customization for 9.1.5/9.2.0, so we might be seeing some of that in 10.0.

I don't think we are getting SL ARs at this point. 9.2 would of been a prime time to do that. Especially with the drought this expansion.

They said initially something along the lines that ARs could pop back up but didn't makes sense with the initial story of the Shadowlands. Which makes me think if they are going add any at the tail end of this expansion that they won't be related to the Covenant races at all but more tied to 10.0 and the future story.

Interesting. I hope the rest of Allied Races get it this patch. Was expecting some in the first build of 9.2.5, but I guess it might still be early. Fingers crossed for this week. I wonder if they're only doing 3 races again or all that are left. Void Elves, DI Dwarves and M Orcs should be next in line.

This would be great because I felt like the character customization they added in SL was kind of lackluster. Not that it was bad, but I felt like they should've added way more than they did.

Maybe they'll fix their 5 different generations of character customization and categorization? Even as a dev from another field I take a look at that GUI and can't help but feel shivers run down my spine. One race has 3 things bundled into a single slider, while another an pick 2 and 1 seperately and another has each seperate and additional options on top of it. Feels like something that begs for a major design pass to bring all races to the same fidelity.
You are welcome, Metzen. I hope you won't fuck up my underground expansion idea.

Well, they did just randomly stop adding them for some reason as the expansion started.

Probably not going to happen, but I would love if you got more options for different sets of voicelines and such. And while humans didn't get nothing in SL, I do still hold out hope for the KT and lanky version to be available to both regular and KT humans in addition to the aforementioned swappable voicelines.while i am not hugely into RP, I would love if my character could have the Kul Tiran voicelines he is supposed to have without needing to swap the entire character to KT as well.

It could be pretty interesting to have the Shadowlands representatives be war hawks, because they need more souls and anima for their "homelands".
It became clear that it wasn’t realistic to try to get the audience back to being more hardcore, as it had been in the past. -- Tom Chilton
