As for Cairne, don't you see him in the Tauren heritage questline? No reason to seek him out.

Hoping we could see some Calia / Terenas story. Perhaps giving her character some actual purpose for once.

Considering she isn't in Oribos in 9.2.5 I'm assuming she's somewhere hidden. I have checked Oribos up and down.

Anduin won't return to Stormwind, but he won't stay in Oribos either. Most likely it will be in 10.0 on the dragon islands as in pandaria. He has a new encrypted model, why do it if he was abandoned.

Lol, so Anduin gets retired, Thrall will be back to being a daddy and shirk his responsibilities to his people, Kadghar is seeking his final resting place, baine is either still fucking boring or broken now, Sylvanas is benched for a couple patches..

That leaves us with.. who exactly? Jaina the soon-to-be Guardian, the boring windrunner sister and Vereesa, the boring Paladin? Trollrande? Hmm none of them have a maincast vibe to them, except maybe Jaina. So I guess they really try to get rid of as many old characters as possible. Maybe they really abandon this core cast concept and go back to smaller stories without the one dimensional hero characters whose story can't be told in the alloted timeframe.

They’ve been setting up their retirement now that we have a younger cast. Taelia, Tess, Anduin, Wrathion, Rokhan, Lilian, the Children’s week girl, Talanji, allied race leaders. We haven’t seen Thrall’s boy or that Tauren kid we saved.

This does seem to confirm that there is nothing about "lol leave and never return". So unless the devs hastily write that in because of Lore forums and Red Shirt Guy tweets, the Shadowlands are semi-open.

Don't think that makes a whole lot of difference. Main takeaway is that he's staying away from leadership for now, which IMO is rather understandable. Leadership positions are notoriously heavy on the psyche and he's really not in his best mind right now.

I went to check in Sinfal just in case but Kael just has a dialog for Kel'Thuzad's defeat.

Alleria looks at Sylvanas with scorn, anger, contempt, which makes sense after all the crimes she's committed. Vereesa looks at Sylvanas with sadness, pity maybe, she seems on the verge of tears. Which also makes sense, since Vereesa is a pathetic crybaby.

Well when Thrall stepped down from leadership in Cata, he was shoved into every cutscene and plotline. But damn, I'm actually excited to see how this is followed up.

I mean, if we're leaving the Shadowlands (which in all likelihood we are, since the expansion is ending) and he's staying behind that means no more Anduin on the forefront.

If he's leaving the Shadowlands but not leading the Alliance/SW, that might mean we'll actually see -more- of him.

I'd say 50/50 is encrypted model is his traveling gear OR he's in some kind of Kyrian robe and will be staying there to meditate with Uther. We shall see.

If they are retiring Sylvanas so definitively I can see him staying behind as well.

With this, it is confirmed that Turalyon will fully assume the role of Supreme Commander (= High King) of the Alliance, with Alleria as his chief advisor in the War room, which btw is next to the Throne room.

Great things are ahead for the Alliance, I don't know if the next expansion will excite me gameplay-wise, but it surely will excite me lorewise. Soon my long wait will come to an end.
