Darkfallen is definitely going to be the next AR and I imagine it will be added in 9.2.5. I'm getting end-of-Legion vibes from this (you know, when they added VE, LF, NB, etc.).

And as was the case with the ARs added near the end of Legion, they had pretty much nothing to do with the expansion that came after... So I wouldn't try too hard to connect Darkfallen to the next expansion. It's just a gift for all the Sylvanas fanboys and fangirls so they can create their own little Sylvanas copies now that she's out of the picture.

As for the Alliance AR, as you said, some kind of Light Undead like Calia would make sense to add as the Darkfallen equivalent. They'll probably call it something silly like "Lightwalker" because Calia keeps going on and on about "walking in the Light".

Stupid question, but what makes you so sure? I want a reason to believe.

PS: I want Darkfallen/Dark Rangers, but not because I like Sylvanas. I just think they're neat. *Insert Marge Potato Meme here.* As much as I don't care for Calia, I wouldn't sniff at more undead themed races.

I’m honestly shocked. I thought the reason for Teldrassil burning at all was because they couldn’t figure out how to do an HD world tree and wanted to move them to Hyjal or Dire Maul. What the hell is this?!

Some new things from 9.2.5 that I haven't really seen mentioned elsewhere yet;

So there's a new quest in Orgrimmar on 9.2.5 where you intercept a thief with an explosive pie.

No idea what this quest is for or why this is relevant in 9.2.5, but there are a bunch of creature names I think are connected to it (as well as a lot of "Worker" NPCs):

Maybe this is the Horde equivalent of that Shadowlands tour quest we saw last build? Or maybe something for Winter Veil?

This in particular looks to be a Winter Veil questline. The hint that I see to it being a holiday is the quote about "next season," which would feel weird for some sort of tour or the like. Given how much the goblins seem to help with Winter Veil for the Horde, this feels like a good fit there.

There is also this NPC and this NPC that don't seem familiar to me but do meet the "worker" aesthetic from the quest.

These two strike me as different than the workers, partially due to the races but also due to the worker tag. The interesting part to me with them is the tabards, especially the first one. This tells me that they may be related to some sort of faction to come perhaps.

There's also some new copies of Shadowlands NPCs (e.g. Lord Herne, Lady Moonberry) as well as (new? I don't remember this NPC) messenger to the (Winter?) Queen called Lilacsprig that might be used in a new scene called "The Queens Gift".

I agree with a lot of the theories below about the world seed. I've long wondered if we might get some sort of new seed from Ardenweald to regrow a new home for the Night Elves. I've been calling it "Eludrassil" with the thoughts that it's a gift from the Winter Queen toward her sister's chosen, but I doubt that's the actual name or story if something along those lines exist.

There's also still the whole Moustache situation where there's a bunch of spells/creatures about Moustaches that might or might not be connected to this quest.

This could be so many things. My first thought on seeing this was some sort of Children's Week thing, though the part of extra teeth makes me almost feel like this is some sort of trickster Loki-ish spirit.

If it's all encrypted, do you think it could be because it is related to what they are going to reveal on April 19th? That would make a lot of sense, since heritage armors have never been encrypted, neither have allied race questlines

Most story content is encrypted these days (as it should be!), obviously the story will connect up to 10.0 at some point and it's pretty much a given -something- in 9.2.5 is going to link up to that, which is likely encrypted, but if it's directly related to the Tirisfal stuff or if that is its own thing remains to be seen.

A bunch more encrypted items got added this build as well, we'll see what those end up being.

Also, unrelated to the current conversation, but there was a hotfix (without public data) on Thursday that was a bit weird.

It was a 9.2 hotfix that touched 2 battle pets and 2 mounts, all 4 of which are encrypted.

There are 3 mounts still encrypted in 9.2 of which 2 (1517 and 1556) are relevant and from 9.x. One of these has to be the speculated Emerald Drake mount MMOC posted about a while back, the other one I don't know much about.

One of the hotfixed pets (3175) is a pet with several Dragonkin abilities, which is interesting, but does not appear to be the pet included in the same encrypted bundle of files as the Emerald Drake mount. That's another pet I don't know much about yet (other than what was already spoken about in the post, e.g. the likely vulpera skeleton shared thing).

I don't think I'll have a ton of more time/energy to dig into this the next two weeks, at which point we'll already likely have the answer to all of this, but it is interesting nonetheless!

Maybe! There are some similarities to the Celestial Transmog set (scroll down to key 323 for that one) in that there's items for multiple races with a few entries in the transmog DBs, so it's probably a transmog set of some sorts. Might be some 10.0 pre-order, event and/or questline thing or something entirely different. There were a bunch of item textures that got removed, but those could also be related to the new Blood Elf questline thing.

Having racial IDs mean that they are gear that uses race-specific geosets. A helmet should not look the same on a Blood Elf and a Pandaren, so they use different race IDs.

I stand corrected. It IS hunter only, but he has flavor text if you are the Huntmaster (aka you did the Order Hall in legion).

Here's the rub: if this is a dark ranger customization, you telling me every race can use it? Because every race can be a hunter.

Wow, this is much cleaner than past incarnations of the quest, though the Alliance version hasn't been updated since 9.0.
