I mean if you only saw the box and logo for Cataclysm I don't think you would expect a revamp, just an expansion about a bad dragon.

The dragon stuff will just be endgame/marketing/NEW new content.

Unless all those new human buildings are on the Dragon Isles?
All those new human buildings? Did I miss something?

Many new human buildings were datamined months ago in 9.1.

This sums it up quite well!

I do if the work has been done on the side of other expansions, since Legion for example. Loads of assets were upgraded progressively too.

This + smaller expansion before it + extra dev time, which seems to be the case for 10.0 releasing in 2023.

Very interesting, there are no changes to any skybox related things in 9.2.5 which is why this surprises me. Maybe they can change these from the server end of things now by settings a certain weather type for a zone? Hmm.

They got that Microsoft money now though.

Exactly, and they've been tiptoeing around with things that were added and were clearly bringing new HD models for older buildings. The Darkshore NE buildings which never used, the portal rooms being very HD, the Human buildings, most of the old world creatures being revamped progressively (like, I'm sorry, but quilboars in KT made no sense other than "OK quilboars need to be updated for our world revamp project, let's used them in KT too, two birds one stone).

I am now convinced the Lordaeron shield dropping from Mal'Ganis is this expansion's Suramar cloak. We're gonna see either a Northern EK revamp + Dragon Isles, and other continents revamped through patches/expansions (living world mechanic of campaign taking place progressively on Azeroth?) OR a full world revamp + one zone being the Dragon Isles.

You are welcome, Metzen. I hope you won't fuck up my underground expansion idea.

Marlamin can you confirm if that skybox is the same as Arathi's? I think it's just Arathi's skybox bleeding into Hillsbrad/Wetlands/Hinterlands.

It might be a mis-interpretation from the players, gonna check on live servers what it looks like.

I think that's what it is precisely.

I think for old models needing updated we are just down to gnolls, centaurs and dragons, and now we know all the dragon stuff will be updated.

The Kalimdor centaurs may be coming back based on the Ardenweald centaurs, and gnolls... will PROBABLY get an update because Hogger.

Nope, cannot confirm or deny based on what I'm seeing in data.

There's always the chance that this could be a bug right? Like Arathi’s new skybox unintentionally bleeding into nearby zones.

I'm pretty sure weather, with the included sky box changes, are client side on live. Two players can be standing next to each other in the same zone and have different weather. At least that's how it was on the 9.1.5 PTR when I tested it with the new Stormwind weather.

If we get another revamp of the old world I really hope it comes with a Chromie NPC this time so we can play both versions. Like they did with Blasted Lands.

Hm, maybe its preperation for an "ingame event of sorts", maybe glimpses onto the dragon isles at specific timeframes. If I remember correctly, before Legion came out, WOD had the fell reaver sound when flying to and from ashran.

Quite a few more but, yes, gnolls, centaurs, dragons, giraffes, lions (kind of), and a few more irrelevant ones which I may be forgetting.

I'm at a loss then, I guess I have no idea how the weather/skybox system works then.

I hope it doesn't come with a Chromie NPC but on a completely different map instead. With old Cata world accessible through Caverns of Time.
