It might work depending on how accurate the skybox map is. I suppose if it were a really good copy of, say, the minimap texture it could be pretty easy to ensure the locations line up perfectly.

They could always have you poof out at the same spot at worst. Like Nym said, maybe at Lordaeron.

If sufficiently high enough, seeing a very, very distant Dragon Isles from any continent on the ground, similar to Argus/the Sargeras star would also be cool.

Maybe that's why they made them heavier? Because they knew vrykul would come eventually and wanted them to be different.

One idea I had a while ago was what if one of the old gods landed on the moon? I mean they were just flung in space. Some are probably just traveling in the void of space still. Some hit solar bodies and got fried. And some hit things that are not planets.

We know what a Dragonflight is. Maybe it also means flight of dragons. Like them becoming important and being re empowered.

They were grounded in cata but it's their time to soar again.

Yep, totally summer is out of picture for releases.
I would have stuck to expansion releases instead of patches and remakes

Also the two expansions were mid and late august which while technically summer is after the dead time of the year

I hope to every deity known to mankind that's not the case.
'floating, draconic islands' isn't exactly a unique or original idea, and takes just about 2 brain cellls of creative thinking to come up with.
Not to mention that the community has been screeching about it for god knows how long.

Surely Blizzard isn't so creatively bankrupt that they'd just do another set of regular ol' tropical islands.

Plus since we don't know of any Cosmic Forces interested in the dragons it means they can make it a more grounded villain/group.
The Wyrmcult who were present in Blades Edge Mountains during TBC would be a good candidate for this.

    Anyway back to the topic.

The road going south from Dragonblight is an interesting point. What if Dalaran is mimicking an original arcane city of Dragons/Titans, one which ascended into the sky aeons ago which caused the road leading to it to collapse?

ULDOROUS - City of the Titans, guarded by the Dragons

They love one-upping themselves with new expansions, so it wouldn't surprise me if this is to top Dalaran, Ulduar, and Wyrmrest Temple all in one go.

Then hovering around Uldorous you have floating zones for each flight. These could be their original temples which they might have been thrown out of in a great uprising, causing them to instead set up shop in Vermillion Redoubt, Caverns of Time, and so on.

We help them reclaim their ancient homes (and thereby their powers).

Okay I might have gone on a bit of a tangent here, based on one fragment of a clue.
Honestly I've considered tying Uldorus to the Dragonflights before.

And then tying Uldorus to the World Soul.

Which is dying and/or dead after the Jailer gave it the succ.

It has a cheesy appeal to my nostalgia. I like it, even if the "every color of the rainbow" bit is a tad too far for me.

It would imply an inverse rework to the world. A literal reversal of the Cataclysm, the exact moment the game arguably started to slide backwards in quality outside of the world revamp itself. Kinda fascinating, really.

After so much dour cosmic shit, I'd be down for a feel good intro frankly. Endwalker's opening was well received and it was like 75% just doing a giant fist pump for the cast and "you."

I had this expansion concept before 8.2.5 posted somewhere here.

At end of BfA (which would have ended completely different in my concept) MOTHER opens the Heart Chamber. We find out the Heart Chamber is part of Uldorus, a massive vertical structure at the other side of Azeroth that starts fairly high up and descends all the way to the core of the planet, overseeing the progress of the World Soul. Surrounding Uldorus are five floating islands meant to defend the most critical titan facility in Azeroth. After the creation of the Aspects, Tyr lead them there so they could take up protection of Azeroth. So they became the Dragon Isles.

I also had N'zoth still alive, rounding up the four aqir races (Mantid, Nerubian, Qiraji, K'thir) plus the Twilight Flight and having each of them assault a different Island. From Uldorus he would no longer need to dig deep but could reach the World Soul directly and pull it into Ny'alotha. Also the Halls of Valor would port right next to Uldorus and be our capital, with Odyn vowing to protect the World Soul and do what the dragons failed to.

I personally still feel like MoP and Legion were both high points, but Cata itself, WoD, BFA and onward...

Yeah, it's the very definition of too good to be true. And I'll be frank. I don't think the team can even pull it off. Now if MS throws a lot of money and enlarges the team dramatically, maybe it can be done for 11.0

To me, Zovaal saying "a cosmos united cannot withstand what is to come" doesn't connect to a grounded Dragon expansion as the follow-up step. It reeks of filler, just like MoP had that Legion hologram that led to WoD before we could finally get into Legion.

I want to see the story implications of Void lore as much as you do, but I'm afraid they'll shelve all the interesting elements to get back to "basic adventure" mode. All of what I'm saying could end up being wrong, however, I do recommend to everyone interested in cosmic lore to take everything with a grain of salt at this point.
If Dragon Isles are filler everything is. Dragons are incredibly important. Blizzard has never set out to create a filler expansion. Filler expansions just happen due to issues. The only 2 filler expansions are WoD and to a lesser extent SL. I'd argue really only WoD tbh. Even then it had huge ambition and was obviously not meant to be filler.
