Btw what if we do get a Dragon Knight type of class but instead of the specs having to do with dragonflights, the specs are Dragonflight agnostic and the class has a special interaction with a Covenant-style system for Dragonflights? SO everyone else just gets to pick a Dragonflight for cosmetics but Dragon Knights actually get some class features modified depending on their choice. Sure it would make the class more complex but it would be your choice to pick it instead of having your main for so many years only function properly for each type of content if you pick the right flight.
It is possible to think the expansions are bad, but also that some of the decisions were good.
Just because SL suffered catastrophically because of droughts and poor buildup doesn't detract from how the Great Vault us a great improvement on gearing, and that 9.2 has gotten closer to fixing some old problems with tier sets.

do not annoy the dragon for you are small crunchy and good with sauce
The distinctive clank of metal armor doesn't have to come from plate. It could come from scale armor (which is what hunters tend to wear; plus he could get a new set of armor when he comes back with her from the Maw, scavenged from Mawsworn who are all in pretty heavy armor). Not saying it's not Anduin because they would definitely do something that stupid. But "hope" for Sylvanas at that point would definitely be to spend her time in the Maw with Nathanos.
Plus it leaves it open. Anduin could come back or we could even find him somewhere in the world. Heck it could be that this is not about retiring Anduin from the game for a few xpacs but rather about removing him from the throne so he can adventure more freely without the weight of the Alliance. For all we know we might find him without the heavy plate and SW regalia standing next to Wrathion in the Dragon Isles. They have always had those two characters interact at every chance and I think it would be weird to have a dragon centric xpac without Wrathion and weird to have Wrathion without Anduin.

I've actually been thinking this would be the most logical next step. Intro quest line has you rescue a bunch of eggs from somewhere, and wahey, it hatches into a baby chromatic drake. Which changes into whichever dragonflight you're currently associated with. Pocopoc was okay, as long as they don't drop a load of cosmetics on 1% drops on low spawn rares I'd enjoy it. You could mix Pocopoc, covenants, and the legion artifact weapon and customization into 1system, this little pet that's with you and grows the whole expansion.
The thing is though, who else could it realistically be?
Especially in relation to the book, it would seem weird to just make it someone random. Arthas would have been a solid enough choice if he wasn't deleted in the raid.
I guess it could be Uther, but seems more like it is supposed to be Anduin given he was last seen talking about staying in the Shadowlands.

It's also possible to make changes based on player feedback but find oneself unable to fix the system within the existing constraints of an expansion.
For that matter, ercarp seems to belong to the group of people who believe that "listening to feedback" = "implementing the exact changes I want, no matter how shit they would actually be".
That wouldn't really make the distinct metal clanging sound though, which is the thing Sylvanas heard.
I have to say though, looking back I really wish they had killed Nathanos off for good. Just have Tyrande destroy his soul after killing him, that would have at least added some poignancy to the whole ending with Sylvanas if she ended up actually losing something.

Tbh I think it would be cooler if instead it was specific whelps we have saved during the last two decades. For Reds it could be Rhea's egg. For Blues it could be Emmigosa.

How so? For one thing, anyone friendly approaching Sylvanas from behind should be making sound to avoid taking an arrow to the head. Nathanos probably would be trained NOT to clank since he is a ranger ofc.
I just think the bait and switch is more interesting. And I like Anduin. I just want him out of a spot where his morals can just dictate the story as heavily as he can as High King.
