The picture was actually posted before the name leaked (though to be fair, it is not impossible someone else saw the name first and didn't draw attention to it). I would still say there isn't really a reason to not think it is legit at this point since it is just an image of Alexstrasza and doesn't imply anything outlandish.

It also resembles a specific Blizz artist's style to the point that it was instantly recognizable as such and comparison images of his other art are spot on.

Still would beg the question where they got the image from to throw that together haha

True, this is also a possibility, but it still doesn't discount the scenario I presented either.
I could swear I've seen that dragon before. Isn't that the avatar Teriz has been using? He is banned so I can't tell. Alex could be recycled too.
It's possible that it was known before those posts and just took some time to work it's way through the internet. Maybe twitter/reddit weren't the first to know about it?
I just remember how sure everyone was about the Empire of Dragons logo. It could be real, but perfect timing doesn't guarantee it to be either. If anything, perfect timing is actually a little suspicious imo.

Which is why it's probably an intentional leak like the Bolvar cinematic image, to generate hype.
No one has been able to find the image anywhere else on the internet so it's either real or someone actually painted that themselves after discovering the real site leak without telling anyone.
The art hasn't been found anywhere else yet and people have searched for it. The style matches Bayard Wu very well (which is probably why the dragon looks so familiar, it looks like an art piece of his of Alex). And the EoD logo had a lot of pushback because all it had going for it was looking fancy and impressive but nothing else to support it. It's not a sure thing like the name being found in the actual WoW website, but it is way more likely than not that the Alexstrasza image is real.
(also Teriz is using an image of Wrathion I believe)

I bet there are Blizzard folk browsing these forums getting a good laugh out of people discussing whether or not this stuff is real![]()

That Alex image is 100% legit, let's be real....
That same imagine isn't found anywhere else on the internet and the quality is just too good. Plus why would a fan randomly give her a staff when she's never ever carried one.
Honestly it's like the people who claimed the Bolvar shot was fake when it clearly wasn't.

Funny because the eye color is what made it obvious.
Like why would a fan make a detailed fake but have his eyes a different color. That's only something blizz would do for story reasons. Fans stick to established shit when making believable fakes.
Classic nerd psychology
At this point people have caught on that the real leaks always have things that make no actual sense until you have the bigger context. So you now get fake leaks that are a bunch of random gibberish like "Khadgar turns into Kalec and flies away" because they know the more random and not based in anything we would assume, the more likely to be real. But they get way too outlandish with it. "Vol'jin is an urn" was silly and random but not ridiculous. Khadgar being evil and turning into Kalec is just stupid.

Bro do u understand how high quality that art is? Not only is it similar to one of the artists blizz frequently uses (his name slips me atm) this piece would take weeks to complete. So the fact that this leaked alongside the name off the website WITH an entire new logo concept for WOW. If this was a fake the person would copy the exact concept of all the wow logo’s over the past 8 expacs as they’ve all been the same style, this one is modernized and going in a new direction. This cannot be fake stop smoking whatever you are lol.
