Large portions of the playerbase only listen to streamers or the top 1% when it comes to their opinions on balance.

Balance in SL (at least before 9.2, idk I haven’t played it yet) has objectively been the best it’s ever been.
I don’t think I’ve seen a single spec be blacklisted from groups for M+ or raid because everything is viable.

That and they like to parrot “balance classes before adding a new one” just because they don’t want anything new.
(They use that same argument for new races too. “Add more to existing ones”)

PvP is a different story because blizzard doesn’t really balance PvP and PvE separately and until they do PvP will always have a slight imbalance.

People who don't want anything new always baffle me.

it's a continuous gaming service. It's going to keep adding new content, and in order to keep people it needs to occasionally add fully new things. Classes, races, what have you. Coupled with the community backlash against powered power, the go-to addition that isn't those two things, they really have to bring something actually new for people to play.

Iterating on the same 12 classes isn't going to bring numbers back up, and even then, we've seen them (last time they had to "break class in case of subs") actually do both, creating a bunch of new content for the existing classes *and* add a new one. And the game is in a worse state playerwise than it was back then, just by looking at raw participation data.

But I guess there are people who eat the same 3 flavors of ice cream and never get tired of it. I'll never, ever understand them, but I'm glad the game is made for both of us.

He didn't even get Legion right. He said Gul'dan would see Illidan train his Demon Hunters in a mirror, which makes no sense, cause Illidan was dead at the time.

Illidan, Demon Hunters and Gul'dan were a good guess for the expansion after WoD and you saw it in many speculations, ideas and "leaks".

The leak that got Legion right included Order Halls, Artifact Weapons and Broken Isles as a continent.

How would that work, I wonder? Since there's no BlizzCon attached to this announcement, would they just make the demo available to everyone? Servers might take a bit of a hit if so.

Hopes/Wants:
-a longer announcement with a lot of information since we are getting a "later than typical" reveal

Will be just as happy IF:
-the announcement isn't too long, but just enough
-we get several small videos, interviews, or additional info in the hours/days post announcement to "wet people's appetites"

What I am excited for:
-watching/re-watching the announcement video, stream, trailers, cinematics (whatever gets released) over and over again
-Stalking the official expansion website for specific details on any new race(s), class(es), features, etc.

I'm not sure what here is actually corroborating your story. Guldan is at no point watching Illidan talk or train to his Demon Hunters, which is what you claimed was seen.

Idk why everyone’s so hostile towards this guy. He claims he has a connection who isn’t high up and shares tidbits of information. He accurately predicted the demon Hunter class, gul’dan in a cave looking into a crystal LOL, and “something about big weapon modifications” which turned out to be the artifact weapon system. Like obvi those aren’t just lucky guesses. You’re all targeting specific details like “WhIcH pLanEt WaS iT On” Bro, his connection wasn’t the ceo of blizz he’s just piecing info together… god ppl are so annoying. Scaleface said what he did at the time based on third-hand information from someone else who saw some sort of video (this is mentioned in his posts). While he got some stuff right, he also got some stuff wrong whether it was a wrong guess or miscommunicated along the way/lost in translation. Again, this was 7 years ago and we're all looking at it with the benefit of hindsight. We have no surefire way of knowing of what he said back then being a few lucky guesses or actual information from his "friend at Blizz" and I don't think it's helpful to fill up the thread in posts discussing everyone's interpretation/opinions on what he said.

If anything, focus on what he said now or move on altogether only to reflect on his (and all the other leaks) post-announcement.
