All I want is a new class or new specs for existing classes. I fully expect a new class.

If expansion is dragon-themed, I want a new race that can fly as a dragon and turn into a gnome mage. I fully except to be disappointed.

Gnomes can fly as a dragon and turn into a gnome mage. They've been able to do so since Cata.

It wasn't even the systems and gameplay issues that ultimately chased me away. I just went to another game that treated me better as a player and also made me feel way more connected to the story lol. Never played an MMO before where most of the major NPCs are literally my friend and treat me like one. Complete with 'are you okay please go take a nap' type comments.

Azeroth hasn't felt like home since well before Legion and I only really realized that during BFA.

But I'll always love azeroth's setting and races and world and want to see the game pull itself out of its spiral.

To be honest I am more hyped for the future to get something better after an underwhelming expac than a great one, since in a great one I don't mind spending more time in it

It’s not the same though. I want to really be Chromie, not a stone drake or Tarecgosa.

My fave expansions were wrath, MOP and legion, so I'm really hoping for something that makes me feel the way those three did in one way or another.

Particularly a return to 'exploring a mysterious and new world' feeling that MoP and Vanilla both had but most other expansions have lacked.

Yeah honestly if wow story was atleast similar to SWTOR/FFXIV/Gw2 it would be nice. Like to feel IN the game and to be among friends and stuff.

Or let me put it differently, using your logic:

Every new class is based on a WC3 class, thus a new class has to do the same. Let's follow that
Every promised class/not happening class by you has been proven wrong, thus a new class has to prove you wrong as well.
Uh, just because I picked the wrong WC3 class doesn't mean that I'm incorrect about every class being based on WC3. Also it would appear that Blizzard has been slowly moving off of WC3 and more into the WC characters of HotS. Which is why a draconic class is now a viable contender.

All 3 of those games prove you can tell a compelling story within the confines of an MMO, while also showcasing character growth and development, instead of putting it all in novels and short stories.

Guess we only have 5 days and 19 hours more to wait until the official reveal. Let's hope they deliver fan service!

Oh I agree. And if the new land is in fact Dragon Isles it might give us that since the only thing we have is the name so far and the almost 2 decade old scrapped map area, and I believe it isn't going to be located there

WoW was never a heavily story driven game though, this is why we were thrown into the mantle of adventurers who just happen to be there. We are not Warriors of Light (Or other things from XIV that I won't spoil). We never got any special treatment. If anything, WoW has been trying too hard to match the success of games like XIV recently and failing, it should just go back to the root of what made WoW such an incredible experience. The wonder of adventure and exploration.

I can draw parallels to the recent 6.1 patch of XIV. I love it more than I did the entirety of Endwalker simply because you go back to the basics of what makes any MMO fun. Just adventuring.

Question for the thread (side tangent):

What is your favorite expansion continent? Or, if you want to be more specific, zone?

And to add to this, WoW having lore given outside of the game (books, comics, audio dramas, cinematics) has been the case since the start or close to it. Heck nowadays we might be even getting more relevant lore ingame

Definitely Pandaria. I felt like a kid there because I actually enjoyed most of the specific zone stories, and because I feel Blizzard was free from constraints of 'established' things and was able to go wild with experimenting and making new things.

I love Eredath because it features the origin story for the Void elves! I have spoken with many players both in-game and on the forums and they too agree that Eredath is the best zone in WoW, like me they insist that it's great especially because of the heavy focus on Alleria and the Void!

I would definitely be hyped for 10.0 if it had a zone that shared similar story beats with Eredath, if not 10.0 then surely for 11.0!
