Dragonflight Alpha/Beta General Discussion

If a dragon class does come, I could see the following specs if we got four specs for it:
Red: Melee Dps/healing hybrid (Like disc but with melee instead of casting, so also kinda like holy pala?)
Blue: Slow but powerful caster
Green: Healer Caster
Black: Tank

It's more than likely this though;

I'm not sure I buy Evoker as a full class, but I can see it as a specialization of something bigger - like a time-oriented specialization of a Dragon-oriented class, even if "Evoking" doesn't even imply that in the first place.

But it could all just be nonsense to begin with.

Evoker doesn't make any sense to me. They already have lore names for dragon or time-related classes. If they didn't rename Demon Hunters to avoid having two classes with the word Hunter in the name then they have no reason to rename Dragonsworn or Chronomancer/Timewalker.

Assuming this Evoker/Invoker class is the real deal, cosidering there are only three aspects left couldn't it be:

Red - fire based healer
Blue - melee arcane dps
Bronze - evasion, absorbs tank

I saw like 3 system designers from WoW team hyping tweet reveal, so I guess we can expect some new system-type-thing in new expansion. But i guess that's expected either way. I hope they improve and iterate over group finder feature more.

We don’t know who the poster child of the next xpac is going to be. The ‘leaked’ art could very well be fake.
Remember the 8.3 stormwind leak that everyone thought was real? Straight up had cinematic quality screenshots and models for the ships.

Yeah, but this is an entirely different situation. Art like that just doesn't stay hidden on the web. If someone drew Alexstraza on that level, it would be on an art gallery site like Artstation or Deviantart, and the artist would be proudly displaying their art on Instagram or Twitter. Further, the work looks very close to one of WoW's main artists Bayard Wu. Wu wouldn't be hiding an Alexstraza piece if it wasn't behind an NDA. Something like that would be on his Artstation or Twitter page, especially if it was a part of a leak that he's not actually a part of. In addition, the work came out before the website leak, and the logo in the picture matches the all but confirmed name for the next expansion.

So yeah, that image is legit. There's simply too many variables in favor of it.

Sure the mechanics of Alexstraza could be carried over with obvious changes.
Pop a CD that enhances your abilities. Turn into an actual dragon? Never gonna happen in combat.

Except there's zero reason to change the mechanics, or disallow someone from turning into a dragon in combat. The concept of it is supported by lore, and it's a unique and cool concept that would set a new class apart from existing WoW classes. It would make zero sense to base a class on Alexstraza and not allow the player to turn into a dragon.

Plus it makes no sense for a dragon to be running around and fighting in mortal form 90% of the time and defeats the entire purpose of playing a dragon.
It would be like playing a Worgen but being stuck in human form all the time, except when popping a racial CD.

Except Alexstraza is in mortal form far less than 90% of the time, and no one said anything about a CD. If anything it would more than likely operate like 6.2 Demonology.

Druids would 100% care.
They cared when Zen Flight was added for Monks to the point that blizz had to nerf it so it was slow. And monks didn’t even transform with zen flight.

Why are you making up stuff up?? Zen Flight was nerfed because people were exploiting the heck out of it. It had nothing to do with angry druid players.

Just to play devil's advocate with the Evoker leaks, and forgive me if I missed some posts thinking along these lines, but what if 'race is more like Pandaren and class is more like DH' means the class doesn't fit the race or the setting, but rather the force we're fighting (IE the Legion for Demon Hunters, as opposed to having some Broken Isles/Nightborne class)? Could mean the Evoker is tied to the big bad who might not be dragon themed (or is maybe using the dragons).

I think if they do a dragon class its going to deviate from the popular fan concepts and be something prismatic focused.

Healing spec that uses Red, Green, Bronze
DPS spec thats Blue, Black and Red
Tank spec thats Black, Bronze and Green

Or maybe each one uses all five flights to some degree. Either way, I think an expansion called Dragonflight is going to be about uniting the flights.

I honestly expect them to merge green/red and/or blue/bronze together.
But I could see something like having green be a ranged DPS like said and red be a healer.

If they do a class skin system next xpac all this could be moot and they could just have 3-4 specs to cover each role and you get to pick your dragonflight as a class skin.

It just doesn't make much sense to me to merge dragonflights. Has there ever been much crossover between them?

Outside of chromatic dragons not really, but if we’re talking about a dragonsworn they could realistically be empowered by two dragonflights at the same time.

But I could see how it’d be weird

I guess maybe if the dragonsworn/evoker class is trained by Chromatus's faction (if it turns out to be the main enemy, which would explain Dragonflight being singular) and then breaks away at the end of the intro experience maybe.

After Kul Tiras City was named Boralus, I think dismissing the RPG as non-canon is a bit too quick. I think it's better to say anything in the RPG is not canon yet, until Blizzard thinks it's a good idea to add to the game. Hell, Tortollans are from Hearthstone.

Sorry, just saw this. Here you go;

Damn that's kinda sick; I especially love the dragon wing visuals, and that attack that causes the spectral dragon to come down on the enemies. Kinda reminiscent (sort of, but not totally) of Dragoon's Mirage Dive in FFXIV.

Definitely want some of that on a dragon class in WoW.
