Also should we add that it's not that uncommon for a lot of dragons to fight in mortal form.

Tyrygosa defend the dragon soul in mortal form, casting spell. And Lord Afrasastrasz (Afrasiabi self insert) is a human fighting with an axe in the TCG card and in game in Dragon Soul raid.

Releasing a drakonid race would just be a marketing suicide because litterally no one will ever play them or would be hyped by them.

Yep. They seemingly enjoy the "soft skin" of mortals.

    Very true.

Very true as well, but some posters think they're a better addition to the game then a class based on some of the most popular WoW character around. No point in arguing when it gets to that point.

    I can just imagine.
"We're announcing a new class/race. You can play as a dragon!"
"No sorry you don't actually play the game in dragon form you are only a dragon lore wise. Might have a flight form but that'll anger druids so might now."

Tbh if the Drakonid race looks cool like the hearthstone art I'd be down. I'd see plenty of people playing them given the popularity of reptilian races in fantasy. (DnD dragonborn, argonians in Elder Scrolls, etc.)

But if they're just completely ugly and not even cool looking (like female Kul Tirans, Mechagnomes, etc.) then yeah they probably wouldn't be played.

I don't remember ppl complaining about Alexstrasza gameplay in HoTS, and her dragon form is in fact, a CD. Same goes with Chromie, I mostly remember ppl loving them to be honest.

Forever amused that Jaina picked like...the most boring possible dragon to hook up with. A dragon, and she picks that one. He's probably so vanilla in bed it's sad.

And I mean Alexstrasza was right there.

Just as viable as your HotS classes except they are actually classes

Wait are people actually preferring a race that is a 4 legged dragon and a reused model mortal form over... an actual new race?

And is that really a problem? (agreeing with you)

There's no need for something 'cool' and 'original' when we already have a bunch of races in game that players have been clamoring for years. Exempting anything draconian, there's Jinyu, there's Naga, there's Ogres... some even want Hozen lol.

    I can go on!

Except the TTRPG Dragonsworn are essentially covenants, where established classes pick up random dragon abilities. A prime example is Ysera's Tears in the Druid class, or Alexstraza's Fury in the Mage class. They're not a unique or stand alone class. Even the ones that appeared in WoW were Paladins, Warriors, Mages, etc. who worked for the Bronze Dragonflight. Again, no unique abilities or powers. Just your typical classes in service of the flights.

Oh? Can you name a hero character that is a Dragonsworn? You know, a character that actually has a fan base, and has people drawing fan art?

    Here's one for the dragon class I'm proposing;

You are saying it's a re-used model because u made ur mind that way.

It could also : bring fully new customizations to all existing races, 3D heritages set of armor with the details level of Wrathion outfit, and actually MATCHING dragon form. (Unlike Demon hunter metamorphosis).

But sure lets say its re-used humanoid form with old vanilla dragon form as a CD. lol

I personally thought that Alexstraza was awesome in HotS. Very unique and cool hero.

It would make an incredible WoW class.

Drakonids and Dragonmen are not new. My confusion is that someone is advocating for a dragon/mortal race instead when I thought that was regarded as a lazier choice.

Don't see why they couldn't use Alexstraza/Chromie/Deathwing's kits from Hearthstone but without the dragon form.
Hell without the dragon form you could easily call that "dragonsworn" and be done.

The dragons are a perfect hero class to "represent" the dragonsworn class.
Just like the Lich King and Illidan represent their respective classes, but the player character isn't exactly like them.

I mean, Alexstrasza is my main on HoTS and I always wanted to play something similar ever since they released her

I think the reworking of the skeleton would be the most difficult. It's not like Blizzard has an aversion to clipping and I think the two handed fighting would be the most difficult. EQ had them appear floating slightly above the ground and had them still interact as if they would ground bound, which could easily translate to WoW. Their wings also just popped out of the cloaks.

...now that we're talking about it, I want to make a Fae rogue.

Yeah! They have a deep well to draw on without adding entirely new races to the mix.

Most (not all) races added to wow have either always been there, or are derivatives of existing races. Though some are kind of left field (no one had any idea nightborne or highmountain could ever be a thing until they showed up, for example)

Vulpera maybe the most 'this race just showed up now you can play them' race? Did anything like them ever exist in lore before BFA?
