He said he would reply back when someone guessed it right, but he'd be back before the 19th, so I'm guessing on the 18th he'll post something. I have to hand it to him even if he's faking it he got this thread pretty engaged and active.

OT: 3.5 days guys. We got this.
Oh I’m with you, 100%; I like his Dragonborne class idea a ton. Would love to be able to discuss possibilities more civilly and openly.

Can’t believe we’re so close, crazy the announcement was over a month ago. This mess is finally almost over. I just want some cool new thing to play that’s vaguely dragony. Fingers crossed

I'm curious if the Dragon Isles will be where the path of the titans leads, or near Quel'thalas instead.

It’s been some pretty fun banter to be honest. Fake or not I think this is a great ending to pre-announcement speculation. Definitely beats the discourse before SL and BFA

I think it’s possible it’s near Quel’Thalas so they can carry that continuity from Beta Classic, but I’d love it connected to the PotT; fill in that bridge at southern Dragonblight and have it go somewhere

It'd be a missed opportunity if the Dragon Isles aren't flying.

Definitely. They have a perfect opportunity. Dragons are flying creatures, and the dragon isles are a secret land which has never been found. Of course they should be flying. Plus, it might mean flying at launch.

Well if the Isles are floating probably not there. It wouldn't make much sense for them to have a path if they are floating. It could be that one zone near Quel'thalas that was never added. It could also be Uldaz. Maybe Uldaz is an island cloaked by a titan device or something dumb. Im pretty sure we are going to see the patch either way though.

I agree. I want this to be the first expansion where flying is actually utilized in the zone design and necessary to get around right from the start. Something like the Kingdom of Zeal in Chrono Trigger or the Floating Continent in FF6 would be really cool to me.

You utilize Alexstraza as the class' base (Dragon transformation via ability usage) and you base her spec on healing, you base the Chromie spec on RDPS, and you base the Deathwing spec on Tanking. You use the 30+ abilities and passives those characters possess in HotS as your class guideline.

HotS is free to play if you have Battlenet. I would recommend you download it and give Alexstraza a try. It's a very good character, and forms a very good foundation for a dragon class in WoW.

Your character can change their flights because they're a Chromatic dragon, which can imitate the abilities of any flight. I limited the spec selection to three, because only the Red, Black, and Bronze were represented in HotS, and Blue and Green are close thematically to Mages and Druids, and are essentially their dragonsworn.

Tinker is still a possibility. Perhaps Gazlowe is on the cover instead of Alexstraza? However, I have a feeling that Blizzard would make a class based on Alexstraza partially because she's a female hero, and with all of Blizzard's bad PR, creating a new class based on a major female character would score them some PR points.
Look, if tinker is the class that's cool, but no way Gazlowe is on the cover in an expansion called Dragonflight. Idc what the trend is. It makes no sense.

I can see arcane mage maybe manipulating matter and going more into the arcane blast direction

...That would be really cool, and a very clever reason to allow flying right off. (like I've always been in the middle on the flying argument, as I can see why flying might annoy/constrain the developers but also how convenient and fun it is as a player. I actually like the current 'explore and do the storyline' approach honestly).

But a continent and storyline designed with flying in mind is really cool to me and has serious potential if they really lean into it. Maybe as the 'finish the story' aware you can manifest dragon wings to fly with.

Arcane could get a titan-themed makeover, since the cosmic force of Order goes hand in hand with the arcane already.

That would be really fun. Could be like we absorb draconic power from the dragonflights and when we get strong enough we can manifest wings. Maybe a few other cosmetic effects happen temporarily too, like dragon horns and scales or something.

Honestly, I just can't wait to see what all of these dudes look like with an update. One of the last remaining creatures that haven't been updated since the game launched in 2004.

Im not gonna lie, I hate that idea. I think it would be clunky AF.

Arcane Mages honestly don't use a lot of time magic. It's just a sub theme of the spec. You can also get around this by making the dragon classe's Chronomancy subclass a healing spec or Bronze dragon / sand themed. Mages have been requesting a Chronomancy healing spec for years on the forums.

It makes sense for the new class to have time magic if the Infinite Dragonflight is a major antagonist of the expansion as well.

Are you serious? No way in hell 10.0 comes in 2024. Absolute latest it could come is Q2 2023. Still think Q1 2023 is most likely.

It could even be an announcement of spoilers going up on the ptr the same week, with Alpha announced coming next month. I think that's pretty likely if its not announced to be coming this month.

I'd be glad if the chronomancy healing niche would go to another class. I don't think there is a need to forcefully hybridize the pure DPS classes, it's okay to have specialists and there are other themes I'd like to explore with mages first, like storm/lightning mages that make more use of the element than shamans with their 2 filler spells.
You are welcome, Metzen. I hope you won't fuck up my underground expansion idea.
