I've done art stuff. There's nothing anyone has said that actually proves these being fake. Nothing proves their veracity though either. Other than the fact they would probably go down as the best fakes someone has ever made. Specifically the cinematic shots are pixelated but are still extremely well composed and lighted. That's not trivial visual design knowledge. The talent tree UI is very easy to fake. The dragon race is much harder to fake, but still possible.
People doubted Bolvar and the Shadowlands logo too. We find out soon.
Also geeze I forgot how both good and bad the Cata revamp was. I'm seeing buildings and thinking "is that updated" only to realize "no, it's just Cataclysm."
Then I look at places like Westfall and Darkshore and remember why it sucked.
FFXIV - Maduin (Dynamis DC)
I don't think I have to like everything. But my overdramatic hot take is that if they think this is a good direction, then I think it bodes poorly for the quality of the expansion, and future of the game. And love or hate pandas, atleast they had an established history in the game compared to whatever these monstrosities are.
Maybe I'll feel better about it after the announcement, but so far, if these race/class leaks are true, my hype is gone.
WoW: Dragonflight
- Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor revamped along with the Dragon Isles as a max level zone (huge and with different subzones and themes. Not really a max level zone as there are no new levels but think of it as the new Suramar). Many zones fused together into new, bigger zones. Old Azeroth access through CoT. Revamped world only shows Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor (the revamped map only shows these continents, all the rest are shown in a new icon called Legacy Maps).
- Yrel represents the Light and makes an alliance with Turalyon, lightbounding any race that she can. Xal'athat represents the Void and makes an alliance with Azshara, turning to the void any race that she can. Horde and Alliance joins forces with the Dragons to try to resist these invading forces. Infinite Dragonflight comeback in greater numbers and new allies too. Basically every cosmic force wants a foothold on Azeroth.
- New Dragon race: no genre. Looks more masculine or femenine with customization. Could shapeshift into any other race (you choose the sex of the humanoide form). Interchangeable blessing of each Dragonflight similar to Zandalari racial. Can glide like DH and turns into a Dragon mount (think about worgen, but with an actual dragon form).
- PvP overhaul with totally separated toolkits from PvE (think of FFXIV).
- NO new levels but a kind of Parangon system linked to talents. You earn points by doing content that you can use to improve your basic class toolkit or to specialise in your selected spec. There are skills and talents as we know today, and other focused on solo and world content in which you can spend more points, but eventually everyone will get the "important" talents and just focused on how they want to customize their solo content (more haste, more crit, increased movement speed...).
- NO player housing but more customization and mount system overhauled. Mounts organised by race (horses, dragons...), you unlock colours, armors and different elements that you can change in a given race. For example if you got Invincible from Arthas, you can use the wings and armor of Invincible in any horse. If you got lets say a black horse, you can use that colour for your horses.
- Covenants system applied to the Dragonflights but just cosmetic. The name of the expansion obviously comes from that (the player selects a Dragonflight of which he is now a part of).
- Sands of time system: mini dungeons for 1-5 players with changing elements (of course, another try of the Torghast-Islands system). Rewards cosmetics and two currencies (valor and a new one just for cosmetic elements). They do not want it to be a challenge but more of a fun side activity which they could always expand as the Warcraft universe is huge and they can always add new stuff there from any moment of time.
- Revamped zones have events that reward the cosmetic currency and experience for the Parangon system. Builded as an evergreen experience, as a way of presenting new characters and the 6 cosmic forces which are Warcraft's future.
- You can get max level gear through valor points. They think that if we get good gear we might do more raid content, and exclusive Mythic gear will still only be obtainable in Mythic raids. Plus with PvP being its own thing, they think that It could work well.
- Interface revamp, paving the way for a console release. Still discussing if there will be cross-play.
- Many QoL improvements and alt-friendliness.
Enjoy what is coming!
I feel like the cinematic could be reasonable, but, as I said, it's likely that as with Legion Scaleface has a set of contradictory information and may even be embellishing whatever he actually has. I'd also say that all the mesh issues are simply inexcusable for a model that is going to be revealed tomorrow. Plus, it's just plain artistically-inconsistent with Blizzard. All of it transparently screams "Scalie", so I don't buy it at all.
Precisely; people argued not just the eyes, but minute aspects of the still were completely off and “an obvious fake because everyone was expecting Shadowlands/Wrath of the Bolvar”
This is pretty much standard for this place right before a reveal. Some will even say it’s fake if it’s shown to be real tomorrow
On topic, I find the prospect of remade talent trees exciting. It could be a cool way of making an evergreen version of something like the artifact traits
