My thoughts on the presentation we just saw:
Cinematic: A-. It gave a good reason why we are going to the Dragon Isles in the first place as well as why we haven't just seen them around. More subdued, but frankly that's what WoW needs right now IMO.
Setting: C-. A bit bland, but I do like that Blizz has worked in so many other WoW races into the zones. They all sound like they fit a dragonflight each & should have decent story. But there isn't a specific area that I'm super psyched to get into unlike past expansions. I would've expected much crazier stuff for the ancient home of the dragonflights lost to time 10,000 years ago.
Drac'thyr Evoker: B-. It's definitely more of a gamble race/class than I expected Blizz to take at this point which will either pay off or fail horribly. With the draconic forms not really appearing to have a lot of armor customization, it doesn't feel like it'll appeal as much to transmog collectors. I also have to wonder how well that empowered abilities thing is going to pan out, especially with players that have any sort of hand/finger disabilities. I half suspect that'll get tossed before it goes live. But it does look like a fun class & does not off hand appear to steal things away from any current specs to a great deal.
Dragon Riding: B+. This I suspect will turn out to be a lot more fun than it looks. It's an inventive solution to the flying pathfinder issues, plus it'll be a non player power thing to grind for throughout the expansion. I'm surprised it's four specific drakes that you can get rather than one, wondering if those are going to be whistles in the short term for each zone.
Talent/UI/Profession updates: Incomplete. All sound nice, but we need more info to really give a rating on it.
Overall: B. This doesn't look to be as feature intense as previous expansions, but it feels like a solid way to answer a lot of player feedback. We have an endgame system which gives day 1 flight without tying it to player power, we have a new race & class that fits the Dragon Isles, we have something kind of toned back to allow for a proper threat scope reset, and it's a place players have wanted to go to for a long time. This feels to me like an actual MoP 2.0 where it will be mocked by the community for a while when it first comes out, but will in time be well regarded & fun overall.

I am sorry, but these elf/human dragon models look really cheap and just shit.. the green ones looks like growing moss lol.
The way it's worded though, it says. "choosing between a humanoid visage, and a fearsome draconic form to battle foes and overcome obstacles". The "choosing between a humanoid visage, and a fearsome draconic form". Makes me think both are a combat option and it won't be like worgen.
You are reading it wrong, unfortunately. Form is for combat. Visage is for looks.
With the Evoker class gameplay, the Dracthyr needs to be able to fly and there are no wings presented with the humanoid 'visage'.
(I'll gladly be proven wrong about this because it sucks!)
Why does it matter though? Dragons aren't real.
Making something look good should always take top priority over any "realism."
Also WoW has never had a genderless race before for what I feel is a good reason, it really just isn't appealing. It essentially halves any sort of features or customization.
Based off of what they've shown it feels very difficult to make a distinctive character, let alone one that feels personal at all. Only being able to be elf or human in the mortal form is also pretty terrible. If they were going to make the dragonform have a uniform appearance, I would expect the plethora of features to be put into their other appearance. But right now its just losses and no gains.
Such limitations should not exist.
And to be completely clear, I have zero issues with androgyny or non-binary folk, and I also admit that WoW has had a bad problem with sexual-dimorphism, that being said this is a leap in the wrong direction and completely ruins the race for me.

Weird that the black dragonflight isn’t part of the DPS or Heals spec. I wonder if they scrapped a tanking spec. Guess I can hold out hope it would come in a patch a la FFXIV since they are doing so many new things.
