Dragonflight Alpha/Beta General Discussion

I too am underwhelmed. Thankfully I'm strictly a Classic player these days.

The new class is so random. Like @Teriz said, 2 specs for such a class that utilizes all the dragonflights is inexcusable. The new class being locked to one race and that new race not having ANY other class choices is further proof of how out of touch these "developers" are.

New features aside, there are so many simple features that could have easily boosted player enthusiasm.

Such as:

New race/class combos
New heritage sets
Showcase of new spells for existing classes!!!
A new profession
New BGs
Guild Halls
Class Skins
New classes (Tinkers, Dark Rangers, Necromancers etc) and new races (Mogu, Sethrak, Arrakoa, Ethereals etc) that people have ACTUALLY asked for


The only things that interested me was a new class (random as it might be) and the modern take on old talent trees.

People have asked for Ogres and Nagas before WoW came out in 2004 and they still haven't added them in. We are more likely to see freaking Tuskar and Gnolls than Nagas and Ogres. Let that sink in.

Nope. Confirmed in an interview to be a Dragon isles only thing.

I only hope that this becomes the only means of flight going forward. Seems so much more fun and immersive that mountaing up and turning off gravity like we do now.

My idea for a fix to Dracthyr:


Allow the humanoid form to be a number of classes, like warrior, mage, etc

Have the "Full" race (with human and dragon forms) be locked to Evoker

Turn the Dragon Form into an Evoker feature like Demon Form was for DHs.

My idea for a fix to Dracthyr:


Allow the humanoid form to be a number of classes, like warrior, mage, etc

Have the "Full" race (with human and dragon forms) be locked to Evoker

And why lock the full race to just human? Let the devs earn their salary and paint those scales on every race combo except Pandaren. Literally makes no sense. Chromie is a gnome dragon and we don't get that option? We also can't choose between female elf or male human. Like what?

Arakkoa was my first thought as well. I'm unconvinced that this is a new animation rig, mind and the way it's attached is very similar to how it was to them. I'm thinking that we're in for a Nightborne situation where there's NPC and PC versions, with the latter being cursed.

It's the female worgen model rig.

I don't really see the point when you could just make the customization options available to everyone instead. Unless the Dracthyr have some extremely specific racial like turning into a full dragon I don't see what the difference would be from playing a regular Human female that just so happens to be using the Dracthyr appearances.

After processing this a bit more, i gotta say that the lack of a third spec really sucks. However, I suppose Blizzard was trying to make a anti-DH hero class that did the opposite of what they do.

That said, I like the fact that it’s RDPS/Heal and wears mail.

Feels like they only did 2 specs so DHs wouldn't complain.

The MMO-Champion overview includes a "revamped old world" ??? To what extent remains to be seen.

I think this is primarily due to the way the world will be built.

Maybe its just me, but I am kinda expecting something like Elden Ring with its jump pads mixxed with GW2.

Just because its only in Dragonflight areas, it doesnt mean it wont get taken to the next level with 11.0.

I feel like.... bland is good? Like they went really outlandish with Shadowlands and look how that turned out for them.

Bland means it feels like it belongs as part of Azeroth at this point. It's things we've seen before.

I do agree to some degree. I think they don't have enough of an identity is my concern, but I definitely prefer bland but grounded to Shadowlands.

Well Ion said it is only possible on the Isles cause those zones are the only there are big enough. So all Old-World zones will need to be revamped and extended in size. Or combined maybe.

That or they need to do a 180 degree turn like they did with Vanilla servers.

Its weird to make an entire set of racial customization options you will never see outside of RP.

Is it really that strange though? How often do we cover up existing races customization with helms and other armor? Sure we can hide most stuff now but we couldn't in the past.

I think it is less about getting them "back" and more about getting them at all. Like you have oodles of points to pick what you want instead if right now where you only get to choose 1/3 things and if you want two things off that tier well shit outta luck buddy

So maybe I'm a boomkin and I want to be able to offheal on dungeons. I could forgot any cat or bear abilities bto become a healer etc. It's a cool idea and something they already do with the one talent but even more on depth.

Not sure why you'd limit the other classes to only humanoid form. The dragon setup itself could be an awesome Warrior/Mage/Priest, etc. I'd more or less just extend Dracthyr to a few more classes and add in the option to have other base humanoid forms for the class aside from the two we have. They don't need the dragon-specific customizations for all of those forms, but that would feel more accurate to characters like Ebonhorn.
