That talent revamp sure is meaty and needs a lot of testing. And most importantly NEEDS for them to listen to feedback.

My thoughts exactly. They can learn to be rogues eventually, and can pass on evoker magic/power. Other races would just have a "ghostly" dragon form they'd take when doing the dragon version of spells/abilities.

It’s funny that you think this way when it actually offers a new class/race. So is the new class/race so lacking and basic? Or what’s the issue? I cannot comprehend it yet. Something‘s just missing for me.

It's also amazing that reps will have tiered stories again. Something they haven't done since MoP. Something I thought was awesome.

With Gnolls and Centaurs now getting an update, what vanilla enemy NPC races are left to update?

Everything they showed I loved. Been saying for years WoWs flying system was terrible as a game mechanic and needed to be turned into something more. In-depth professions is something I've wanted forever too. Don't care about the new class and race but I certainly don't hate it either

Very disappointed in the lack of player housing and world revamp though.

As far as I am concerned, a lot of people hated things like forced weekly Island Expeditions or Choreghast. Covenants with their no-options-forced-unbalance was also the prime killer of Shadowlands for many.

So what did it need exactly to be better? Wouldnt a really good entrance raid, 6-8 well done m+ Dungeons and good PvP be enough for starters?
I was talking about the feeling in me that just says, this is what we are going to get..

What do you mean boring? the setting seems fine, but to me it seems lackluster. The updated ui changes are all great, but does that really give me something new to do? not rly, I use addons anway, so who cares. The one class one race combo is my biggest irritation as the new race already feels very restricted and if you don't want or like to be an Evoker, well then there is nothing for you here. I don't think this is a smart business move either if you think about it. Uch..I can imagine all the lizards jumping all over the place, when waiting on WSG to open etc doesn't make me hyped or happy;p.
Me and many others were just hoping for some fan favorites being added, Ogres, Vrykul ,Tuskar and now out of nowhere we have these super detailed centaur like wtf. to name a few and seeing them now as updated npc feels like a kick in the balls. They even look way better then what we get tbrh. Obviously I have to wait my judgement on the overall package because I don't even know wtf I am even going to do on the dragon isles, I mean probably more of the same right? I am not going to ride my dragon the whole day..in the end ye probably not, so am I stuck with just stuff we already did, but then with a different skin. talking about dung and raids. So ye, I have my concerns and so far no end game info and talents which are now my last hope.

Tbh this looks like legion without artifacts or suramar. But with much better reps and the collection from artifacts being moved to reps. So we are missing borrowed power and an end game zone.

The Watcher showed more emotion and story development in a few minutes than the Jailer did in a whole fucking expansion

This is a massive, massive amount of copium but maybe they are going to slowly release new info. Maybe that’s why preorders aren’t up. Maybe they have a lot of plans but since it isn’t even in Alpha yet (and lord I hope those dragon models change in Alpha and Beta) they don’t want to announce anything, scrap it, and then say “Sorry this is another Path of the Titans and Dance Studio.”

I’m hopeful. So I think so? Hell no it’s another two spec class for a class that should be 3 minimum and 4-5 maximum. But I’ll hope. The lack of preorders does mean to me that SOMETHING is going on behind the scenes. Hopefully it’s Danuser and Ion getting a talking to.

Well all that and also a removal of transmog restrictions on armor. But who knows, this expansion has had so many things I thought would never happen, so maybe I will get my wish on that too.
Same. It looks good just not as ambitious as I wanted. Add housing and. World revamp and I could die happy. I'm still overall satisfied especially as more info releases but I hoped for more.

    Probably yeah.

But I dont really see how thats terribly bad tbh.

Back in the day during WotLK / Cata / MoP days I could just PvP and duel every day for months and I would not get tired.

Because the Class Design was just so well made.

I think thats their prime focus this Expansion, which is why it might look so featureless. People put far too little emphasis on the revamped talent system.

But where is the ambition with Dragonflight? There is just no ambition at all. It feels like the most basic expansion with a tuned down race/class combo. There is no ambition. Talent tree revamp when you had all of that before? Legion was ambitious with artifacts. Heck even Torghast was. Where is the ambition in Dragonflight? I just don’t see it. And that’s what’s concerning for me. I still like the setting. But where is Blizzard’s attempt of doing something different or new or fresh?
Not trying to play a devil's advocate in case of it's failure, but maybe that's the way? Maybe keeping it as simple as possible (lazy/ non-ambitious) and then adding more fresh and cool content around it is a a key?

After all it's being overambitious is what kills the expansion - they funnel a lot of efforts into systems that are impossible to get balanced, like covenant alike systems - and therefore they lose a lot of precious time for development. Same with Warfronts and Torghast. Good ideas not only wasted, but also taking away that time, that could be used to polish whatever actually works.

I just hope that the approach of 'pruning' the game of ambitious content will eventually provide even more proper and likeable stuff

I liked what I saw, only a bit saddened about the dracthyr exclusivity, also happy that they are keeping tier sets and bringing back talent trees. I like the new zones and I'm happy for dragons.

What I'm annoyed about is what didn't get shown, we got no info about endgame content (pvp, pve or open world). While im really glad there isn't any borrowed power system, there doesn't seem to be a cosmetic only substitute for covenants for each flight, as well as an evolution to the Expedition/Thorghast system. They also gave very little info in general. So right now with the info we have (and we are definitely missing a lot) I have a bit of a harder time imagining what my daily wow sessions will look like.

I'm not saying this is bad as they definitely decided to show less than they plan to have in the expansion, which might end up being good. Hope for a fast alpha. It also might be a fact that systems they didn't mention is because they will stay the same (raiding, mythic+, leveling alts in threads of fate).

BUT ARE WE NOT GETTING A MAX LEVEL ZONE?

In general, I am still really excited for the expansion. Returning to azeroth, beautiful zones, dragonriding looks dope and all else. I'm also very curious about the various foes we will face in Dragon Isles.

My guess for alpha would be shortly after the last announcement they teased last month (mobile game), so second half of may. Starting out in second half of may with the Dracthyr starting zone and maybe The Waking shore and then new zone every 2 weeks.

Based on amount of new systems I guess it might be a shorter alpha/beta cycle.
@Scaleface said that the release date would be 22.11. but I kinda doubt it, not impossible but not probable since they would state on or before Dec 31 (or does that go up with preorderd, the on or before)
The lack of any talk about endgame is super worrying because it's not like Shadowlands had a good endgame that you can just trim around the edges on and shove back out. The Vault was a nightmare, the Conduits were a nightmare, the Legendaries ended up being something of a nightmare (especially once you could double them up), the sockets in 9.1 were a nightmare, sounds like gearing in 9.2 was a nightmare.

Hopefully it was just time constraints and they are going to be reworking endgame, because if they just shove SL's endgame back out at us then that's going to drag Dragonflight to unplayable for me.

Yeah it just lacks a signature feature. THere is nothing like the Garrison or the Artifacts and class halls.

I wonder what the whole Living World thing in the files was about.
