Huh. I thought that was an original creation made by one of the WoW artists for her Artstation portfolio 5 years ago, not an official asset.
Looks like they share the same rig. I guess the artstation version is a skin we haven't seen yet.

You know, even aside from the Drakthyr, all the models look too soft and toothless in this expansion.
Compare Wrathion to the new Malygos and Alexstrasza.
This is a Dragon. It is a dangerous animal that immediately looks powerful and intimidating. It appears vicious and uncompromising.
Conversely, I could stick my hand in this thing's mouth and it wouldn't bite down.
What I"m suggesting is that they don't look particularly predatory. They seem to produce a soft and harmless aura. Compare that model of Alexstrasza to any art we have of her previously and you'll surely notice a difference.

It still looks awkward to me. It feels too much like a devolved anthro rather than a powerful and ancient animal.
What I liked/disliked about the new expansion:
Liked:
- No Sylvanas, THANK GOD!
- Dragons Isles looks nice, and it gives me Mists of Pandaria vibes but with a better theme IMO.
- New "RaceClass".
- No borrowed power... YET!
- No flawed systems... YET!
- No big retcons... YET!
- Back to Azeroth!
- Based on interviews good lore, and while Galakrond, Chromatus, and Murozond weren't mentioned they said we're likely to visit past events, so nothing is stopping them to make a raid where we can see/help Neltharion, Malygos, Nozdormu, Ysera, Alextrasza defeat Galakrond in their proto-drake days.
Disliked:
- NO WORLD REVAMP, not even a couple of zones revamp... and it's really sad because I think 11.0 will be cosmic BS again, so we probably we'll need to wait for WoW 2 to see Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms again.
- No alpha/beta on sight for what looks like a small expansion, which makes me think Q2 2023 is the most likely release timeframe. I would be okay waiting so long for a World Revamp, but Dragonflight feels way too small for such a long wait.
- Only 4 New Zones.
- Worried about this new type of Flying...
So far, it seems like a solid 7/10, but like Shadowlands we gotta wait for Alpha/Beta to see the full picture.
Thing is, if you play HotS, the dragons are decidedly ranged, with a small amount of close abilities. I really don’t know how you make this into a melee damage spec without some boring claw and bite attacks.
And that would make it too much like Druids.
That said, I would have loved a Tank spec…
That’s fair! But I’m not seeing it. We have less zones in Dragonflight than other expansions. Shadowlands was a little short on art too with the original lack of tier gear and Korthia being small and reused assets.
The idea was SL didn’t introduce new playable races and was cut short so that the devs could work on 10.0, but 10.0 so far has nothing in it that warrants that.
BFA gave us multiple allied races including Kul Titan which are a new race. Shadowlands gave all races new customizations. Dragonflight gives one new monosex race - that uses rigging and animations from existing NPCs - and customizations for blood elf males and human females AND less zones. Either the devs are still working behind the scenes on a yet unrevealed Thing (11.0 world revamp?) or the lawsuits or COVID really, really impacted them badly.
The 4 zone thing is weird.
Why not just utilize the Dracthyr zone as a regular zone?
Back home from work, saw the cinematic.
Feels sandbox-ish and no strings attached like MoP. Grand villain likely to be found out later.
As for selling points, my stance remains the same: talent trees revamp and professions overhaul. 0 interest in the new race/class. The race just feels personally foreign. Feels like Blizzard saw FF (temporary) growth in popularity and decided to cash in on all their weird races.
