I would be suprised if they also add customizations to the night elfs with the heritage quest. Night Elfs have been protectors of Nature before, so even with the burning legion gone that does not really change. But sure they could ald the cycle on top of that.

Personally I could see them to introduce reincarnation and maybe make all Nelfs that died on Teldrassil (We know that Elune has still plans for the souls) into some nature creature... Dryards... or some new kind of Azeroth Dryard on two legs (based on Ardenweald Satyr).

Technical Night Elfs already have horn customizations but you have to play a Demon Hunter to use them. (Merithra, Yseras daughter, uses DH horns in her Night Elf visage)

Could be something that looks like Sylvar but is reskinned so as not to get the people who wanted all the Covenants as AR riled up. Night Elves brought back to life as a gift of Elune and the Winter Queen.

The Darkfallen, at least to Alliance really add nothing, for Horde I see a lot of people who would like to play undead elfs... but who wants to play undead night elfs?
I prefer any more nature based allied race over Nelf Darkfallen... Dryards, Botani, Saberon, Green Dragons, Nelf Satyrs, Whisps...

A good choice for an Alliance race, settled among the Night Elves, would a race a race that has the upper body of Dryads and Keeper of the Grove. And maybe their specific mount could be their already existing four legged form.

I'm not into Darkfallen. More Elves on the Horde side... meh. Would have preferred other races. But i guess it fits the story.

Nah, they are like highmountain, lightforged etc.

They were a mistake as in, they should just have been costumization options for those excisting races.

They didn't said we will not be getting allied races because they are focusing on the obnoxious new race/class? they prob burn the budget already.

Besides, it makes no sense to shove more elves, and dead ones, to be playable, they specifically said it has to make sense in the moment, and going to dragon isles rly don't scream to me "emo elves joining the factions"

So much other races to add and people still keep asking more elves, sometimes i imagine what would happen if they add all the existing variations, and people would not happy and demand new ones because reasons "next time space elves plsss", going worse than dnd, but at least dnd put tons of races every year

They did indeed say no allied race in 10.0. Could be we would get it in 9.2.5 but I think they'd want a lot more fanfare if they did that.

And yeah D&D can just add any number of races because adding a race costs 2-3 pieces of art that use them (often exist already) and a bit of dev time for a few racials. It can be as little as 2 pages of text. And we are getting space elves back since Spelljammer is coming soon! Wonder how new woke D&D will handle the Unhuman wars and the Scro!

Given how Elune is worshipped around the cosmos, and is implied to have affected the Kaldorei appearance, Space Elves are more likely than not.

What would that end up being? I wouldn't be surprised if it would end up just being Night Elves but "star corrupted" like Tyrande the last few patches when the Night Warrior started really overpowering her.

Though THAT, IMO, would be a pretty dope customization option for NE

I would like them to open up DH to atleast orcs, draenei, trolls of both kind, night borne and void elves. But that would either need 2 new demonforms per race or a generic meta for anyone besides blood and night elves which is something that's not "blizzard quality". It's basically the same problem housing currently has - they would want to have all the racial fantasies fullfilled but that would eat lots of ressources. But the dream is alive, I guess?
