And that the one chance they got to actually give us information, they spent more of that time trying to be "Look how much we are trying to not be racist sexual harassers!" than they did actually showing content.

I've said repeatedly I am optimistic about Dragonflight. If you need to find antagonists, feel free but I am not available.
I have honestly no idea what chance you are referring to. Did I mess an event between the reveal and now where they "virtue signaled"?

I did not really say virtue signalling at any point. They are not virtue signalling; there is no virtue to be had when you were just under investigation for treating women of color as untrustworthy, stole mother milk, drove someone to suicide and turned your workplace into a dive. What they did try to do is show they are "trying" by giving us panels where half the devs were women when we know actual numbers at this point. It's not signalling, it's misrepresentation, like when they were probably looking through HR files to see if they have any employees of color to show in their different panels in the last two live Blizzcons.
And my main issue is still that the panels expended far more time being used as a prop for their issues instead of actually giving us more information so we can actually do some speculation in the hype thread. Like, single panels that show the names of each of the dungeons. At least with Legion we had a massive information dump coming about three months later with alpha actually soon after. We are two months after the announcement, most of the interviews talked about the profession revamp (which probably is what they are farthest along) and we have had one blog post on talent trees.
We probably will have alpha within the same timeframe from the announcement as we did with Legion (I think Alpha by late June/early July is very much possible). But communication is just not at the same level. We are just waiting here for something to happen. We should be waiting for the next release in the schedule instead.

Was it really that content-heavy? Comparing the two Feature Trailers, there's not a lot of difference. The biggest thing missing is a borrowed power system.
We knew about all of those at the reveal, except maybe the profession "revamp" if you could call it that.

We didn't know about World Quests or Mythic+, just vague "we will do something to make it relevant". Also no profession (this I don't remember 100%) and for sure no word about new transmog system.

Both reveals lasted 1 hour, in Legion we didn't have talk about Classic, but there was live audience that always fill some time. Biggest difference is that DF focused on zones and systems, had CGI trailer, while Legion focused more on story and smaller bits - here few DH spells, here few artifact weapons, etc.

    Nope.

They were not in the Feature Trailer, and I just flipped through all of the Reveal stream and there's nothing there either.

Hell, I know world quests atleast were not revealed back then, because I made a post about them in early 2016 when they first started testing them (Reveal was 2015) being very confused. Those comments would not be like that if we already knew about them

Companies are not trying to be diverse and inclusive, they’re just trying to look good so they can continue doing what they want to do while making lots of money. Unfortunately it’s (almost)never actually in good faith

Yeah, it's pretty much laughable that people really think any company gives a damn about all of the bs they spew during Pride month. It's ridiculous and the worst kind of behavior, because it's fake and rotten from the core as proven time and time again by their actions in non western countries during that time.

No, it really wasn't. People wouldn't rate Legion as the best or one of the best expansions then.

WoD, that was terrible nostalgia-baiting. And it's next to BfA, Shadowlands and to an extent Cataclysm the most disliked expansion ever, whereas Legion is always Top 2 in the polls, competing with WotLK for the top spot.

    WoD was nostalgia-baiting for what?

Warcraft 2? A game that like 1% of the actual playerbase played? What an absolutely idiotic take.

WoD's issues weren't the "LOOK ORC WARLORDS REMEMBER?" nostalgia as he claims but meh.....Nyel is nyel. We should note that is when we got new character models which was a big highlight of the expansion.

WoD really had that "back to the roots" vibe, it isn't just Warcraft II but Warcraft in general. It was welcomed by community right after MoP.

Yea, sure, there is only black and white, nothing in between. Ever had the thought that changes start in small steps? But sure, Blizz is only the evil company, they don't have diverse employees with diverse interests, who finally want some representation. Don't let your ideal world be destroyed by things like common sense.

Uhm, yes? For Warcraft in general, some TBC-vibes, oh and right at the time the Warcraft movie that was all about Orcs was released as well... WoD was the biggest nostalgia-bait they did yet. And there are hundreds, thousands of topics about this and how WoD was basically just 100% fanservice with its theme, the revival of the now-so-called Warlords (all those famous Orc leaders, you know?) and stuff.

Wods whole marketing stunt was about "returning the game to its roots", cashing in on RTS nostalgia.

I can get the argument that more people at the top might not care too much but the average employee is probably more for the common man/woman.

WoD had a plethora of characters from BC back in slightly different roles (and Grom, a W3 big dick). Teron, Keli'dan, Vorpil, Akama, Maladaar and of course the warlords. That alone invoked a nice feeling of nostalgia for me.

Sometimes, the light of the moon is a key to other spaces. I've found a place where, for a night or two, the streets curve in unfamiliar ways. If I walk here, I might find insight, or I might be touched by madness.

    Perhaps.

I'm actually thinking August, announced at Gamescom, right before Season 4.

I think it's also that the very structure of Legion lent to more speculation. We spent months discussing possible artifacts for each spec or who could be showing up during the xpac. It's not that they gave us that much more information, it is just the structure of what was shown worked well to built speculation on.

Also the movie came out around the time too.

Felt pretty blatant to me how WoD was trying to be a "remember the hits" sorta thing with callbacks.

Anyway, we still don't know what that WoW-Twitch thing will be, do we? Curious when we'll hear.
