Dragonflight Alpha/Beta General Discussion

I wonder if the Nelf NPCs will move out at the beginning of DF? They don't have a new city quite yet ( the seed probably will get planted and time accelerated by the Bronze at the end of DF) but I can see their leaving for Kalimdor being a part of the story that sets up Tyrande coming to the Dragon Isles.

We know the Worgen could start moving back to Gilneas, as per the newest lore.

Also looking forward to Turalyon doing leader stuff, as I think they confirmed that will play a part in the expansion intro.

I have hopes that all of this is actually a setup for 11.0 with a world revamp. Would be another missed opportunity to just squeeze Gilneas and NewTeldrassil aswell as the Scarlet Imposter stuff into Dragonflight, especially as they already confirmed we would be exploring the Emerald Dream and the potential of a Nozdormu story that shows us some alternate timelines for the patch content instead.

Well the first wave is usually quite small. But atleast we will have some hopefully juicy datamining to drool over!

Datamining a brand new expansion is always fun, hopefully they are getting better and encrypting major spoilers and we just get to see the flashy cool bits. Also Dracthyr Evokers, really wanna see how they play out, we've been starved of info about them for so long now.

Yeah, actually my hopes for encryption is that they don't have major questlines aswell as the raid on the alpha/beta at all. The last Sepulcher bosses aswell as the lordaeron questline showed that they don't have to test that stuff. Feels so much better to explore it together with everyone else instead of having to experience it on an unfinished buggy testrealm. Also I wanna see the story with my characters, not some test dummies.

I'm usually more excited for the data mining than for actually playing the alpha/beta. Don't want to risk burning myself out on the game before it is even launched

I'm not expecting anything to happen until later in the day but the live servers on NA did get extended by an hour. I'm hoping we get a lot of blue posts this week too, maybe showing off more Dracthyr body types.

I am really curious to see how they go about making almost everything account-wide, as Ion himself stated; intrigued to see the new models too, as we always get new models for some characters that we do not expect, and even how they look could tell us something about the story.

Not expecting anymore at this point. Just to not be frustrated if nothing happens. If we don't get an announcement this week, it will be the next or the one after that. I'm done with hyping myself just to get 'disappointed'. It's just a videogame and alpha will hit when it hits.

They should just stay on Kalimdor, its their home.

I have severe doubts they are going to stay in Kalimdor. I think they will either move to Dragon Isles as a nod to the pacts the Dragons and Night Elves have had for (in some cases over) 10,000 years, or move in with the Worgen.

Darkshore is uninhabitable, Ashenvale was reclaimed, but who knows what condition, and there really aren't enough people to defend it anymore.

I don't really believe Dragon Isles is gonna be the new NE home. Extremely unlikely. I still don't see them leaving Kalimdor either. Darkshore can be fixed if the blight in Lordaeron can be fixed.

If there were plans to relocate the Forsaken and Nelves they were absolutely scrapped... Forsaken got EVERYTHING back, and more, exactly where they used to be.

The only reason Nelves didn't get a new tree immediately is because they want Tyrande to get the seed blessed by all the aspects first/they need to model the tree while they already remodeled the ruins. Then it's going back to Kalimdor and if not planted directly on Teldrassils ashes, it will be located pretty close.

Considering the tree probably won't be a replica, I wonder if Undercity will get changes. Or the change will be in the ruins above.

It's possible, but they mentioned that they will reclaim the bottom, and lorewise there shouldn't be an issue with the new plague eaters.

I think they will just rehaul top and retexture the bottom to be on par with the brand new tree.

Dragonflight seems like its gonna get Shadowlands treatment at the end - just forget about it when its over. So they probably dumped it all on the studio they just bought.

The new Night Elf home being anywhere other than Nordrassil on Mount Hyjal would be strange. It sits right in the middle of their forests, has a great strategic location, is surrounded by shrines of the Wild Gods, has the Second Well of Eternity right underneath it, and is obviously super relevant right now with all the upcoming dragon lore.

Having two world trees in northern Kalimdor was strange to begin with, not sure why they'd replicate that problem.

I don't want to hype myself up, because that usually only leads to disappointment, but I'm hoping for good things today.

With only 3 Talent Tree showed on 12 class (13 with the new one)... it will be good if today they will show at least 3 new Talent Tree.

Because if they are waiting to show us all the new Dragonflight's Talent Tree before they launch the Beta, at this rate, the wait will be very long. :O

They can easily launch the alpha with just a few classes and do focused testing on them first. Or maybe just leave the ones that aren't finished with the current Shadowlands spellbook/talent tree 'till they get the new ones.

The new Night Elf home being anywhere other than Nordrassil on Mount Hyjal would be strange. It sits right in the middle of their forests, has a great strategic location, is surrounded by shrines of the Wild Gods, has the Second Well of Eternity right underneath it, and is obviously super relevant right now with all the upcoming dragon lore.

Honestly, I expected Forsaken to be relocated to Stratholme and Nelves to be relocated to Nordrassil, for many of the reasons you said. However I think they are walking back on that and decided to straight up just redo Teldrassil and Undercity/Capital City.

I know many people complained about the Nordrassil idea because it's

A) Of equal importance to Alliance and Horde through the Cenarion Circle
B) Wayyyy too close to Orgrimmar, and would be silly to do that following the Fourth War (a valid point)

So I think they decided to restore Undercity/add Capital City to it and straight up grow a new tree, which has been set up by Shadowlands. There is no real reason to introduce the seed if it won't grow into a new tree, and the cutscene pretty heavily foreshadows that it isn't just "for the distant future of Night Elves". So I think the endgame is a new tree and updated Undercity in 11.0.

Also, Worgen getting Gilneas back was a huge thing as it was also considered highly likely the ruins are abandoned forever... but they straight up say that Genn is getting it back. And implies that this is more than just two cities coming back.
